Anyone with a 2017 and stock LED's turned on DRL's?

I have an AEV Procal and the directions say you can use it to turn on Daytime Running Lights. The directions say you can choose headlights at half-power, turn signals, or fog lights as the DRL's.

I'm curious if anyone has tried this. Does it work with factory LED's? Thanks in advance!

It should, as DRL is required in many countries.

Re: Anyone with a 2017 and stock LED's turned on DRL's?

Not directly related to the OP's question:

I note that my 2017 Wrangler Owner's Manual says the following:
"Daytime Running Lights — If Equipped

The headlights come on at a low intensity level when
shifted into any position other than PARK (auto transmission)
or when the vehicle begins to move (manual transmission).

NOTE: The Daytime Running Light, on the same side of
the vehicle as the active turn signal, will turn off automatically
when a turn signal is in operation and turn on again
when the turn signal is not operating"
Having never gotten out of my Jeep while it is running and not in park, I have never checked. Would a 2017 JKUR have DRLs? Anyone know? I can try to check at some point when I can ask my GF to look as I drive toward her...

No Wranglers in the US are equipped with the DRL activated from the factory.

Just to note, not all 2017's have LED headlights.

From that description, it seems more like they are using the directional lights as DRL. That would be the only reason I can think of, that the DRL would need to be temporarily turned off, when a turn signal is operating.

I'm not 100% sure on the why, but I have noticed that the Cherokee has a half halo style DRL that goes off when the turn signal comes on. I'm guessing it's to make the signal stand out more.

You can see it in this video around the 8 second mark.

Not necessarily, a lot of automakers are moving towards this, even without LED DRL. My 2012 GC turned off the DRL lamp (which was only used for DRL) to make the turn signal more noticeable. My old 2010 Audi A4 and my current 2017 GC Overland turn off the LED strip to make the turn signal more noticeable.

Thanks for all the input, everyone.

I guess my question was more along the lines of: Am I going to screw up my LED headlights by turning this feature on if it is only sending them half the regular power?

Re: Anyone with a 2017 and stock LED's turned on DRL's?

I purchased a superchips flashcal, it also had the option for daytime running lights. I believe there was 4 options.
1. low beams
2. high beams
3.fog lights
4. European, not sure what that one is
I picked the fogs for daytime running, and from what i can tell they are not half
voltage, try it and see what happens you can always put it back to stock.

It's actually a US Federal regulation that if within a certain number of mm of the turn signals that that side has to be off when the turn signal is active. What's the DOT going to do to keep busy when self-driving cars take over?
