Backup Camera in Indianapolis?

Just picked up my '15 RHR, I'd like to get a back up camera since the Maximus blocks a lot of the rear window.

I talked to three Dealerships and two local sound places.

The consensus is "we don't do that" or that'll be $699.

I have the 730 radio...

Anyone have it done here locally?

Someone PM me with a bit of help?

Thanks!

Mike

Re: Backup Camera in Indianapolis?

$500 seems steep to add a backup camera. Most cameras are around $30 on sites like Amazon. There is other info floating around that you can have the dealer flash a feature onto the radio to allow it to recognize input from a backup camera. Does anyone have direct experience/success with that option? I am thinking even if a dealer charged $100, it would still save a ton of money.

Re: Backup Camera in Indianapolis?

I installed a back up camera to my 2014 with the 430 RBZ. Total cost was less than 100 bucks. Parts were $40.15 and the dealer charged 1/2 hour labor (47.50) to flash the Jeep. I installed the Camera into the rear bumper and ran the wires into the Jeep through a rubber plug where the jack is. The camera is wired to the backup light circuit to power it. The harness is inside the Jeep, on right side. The video retention cable plugs into the back of the radio, the coupler attaches to the retention cable and camera. The camera has plenty of wire to reach the front.

Then I went to my local dealer and handed them these instructions to add the sales code to my Jeep. Copy, paste and print these instructions and take them with you to the dealer.
