Bestop TrekTop NX Glide

Hey guys sorry haven't been around much but heres something I'm working on

Hello everyone, I have had the pleasure to be one of the lucky ones to test out the Bestop NX Glide soft top, this is my first attempt on a review of a new product. Any questions you may have I will try and answer them as best as I can.

The Trektop NX Glide I received is the 4 door version also it's the twill top.

Enjoy

I came home to find this big box Infront of my door and right away I took it in to the garage

Earlier in the week I received an adventure pack from bestop and it was full of goodies and in those goodies was this pocket knife "it is sharp"

The NX Glide comes completely disassembled so major assembley required lol everything was wrapped in plastic, also non of the oem soft top parts will work with this soft top.

The top it self was wrapped in this big yellow bestop bag, I also used the bag and the box to lay open the top and not get it dirty

So after I unboxed the NX Glide I needed to get my jeep ready yes yes I know it looks funny with the stock tires but it was at the dealer for some work that needed to be looked after

With the help of a neighbor I was able to remove the hardtop

Also guys the NX Glide soft top comes with a big install manual telling you how to install the top step by step and it was nice and clear, the install took me about 4 hours but I did it alone and having an extra hand or a friend will really get the install done within 2 hrs or maybe less as I had to jump back and forth putting in screws and fetching after the instructional booklet the top came with.

First things first was installing the door surroundings, the fit was perfect and everything lined up with no issues at all

In this pic you can see how stright and flush the doors sit fully closed

This piece here keeps the top nice and inline when u flip the top open also all the parts fit one way and u can't mess up left from right so easy install

After u install both side of the above pic next come the cross bows, they are aluminum and also strong and flexy too and again each part first in its right place and also noted in the install manual along with part numbers on what goes where

These brackets are for the rear section of the top they are located on the roll bars the top one is the Bestop NX Glide part and the bottom is the stock oem soft top bracket

This is the bracket mounted compared to how the oem mounts and how smaller it is

Also another Thing is that the soft top comes with all screws and nuts the oem screws can be used too on some parts

Installing the bars to the header of the soft top is nice and easy "also shown in the install manual"

You unscrew the 2 outer screws and flip the flap open, these 2 screws hold the cable that is mounted on a metal bracket after this point you insert the soft top rod in and install 2 screws that is provided with the soft top and reassemble the first 2 screws you uninstalled, the end result should look like this

The soft top also includes these one sided foam padding that seal and cover the mounting location for the rod

Next up was installing the folding down rods this part was tricky so having a helping hand hold the system in place is nice, the good thing about this section of the install is you do not need screws to mount the rod onto the bar brackets, you just pull on the nob and it's spring loaded and it snaps into place on to the bracket

At this point of the install all the rods are being connected together this all happens before you mount down and strap the top on to the bars and the skeleton of the soft top in this pic I'm showing how every thing lines up and snug

I had flapped the top over the skeleton of the soft top and tested that it folds up and over nicely
The rubber end in the picture with 1 screw showing that's just a cover to cover up the spring loaded soft top wire

The hardest part of this install for me was installing the side windows and the rear window as I ran out of day light and the windows where cold and had zero give to them so I do not have pics of the rear windows and how the glide section works but I tell yeah the way the rear window fits the side aide windows and the tail gate is nice and tight!! Better then having to deal with zippers.

The top is fully on right now on the jeep and im letting it sit for a bit on the jeep for things to stretch out before I take it apart and show you guys and girls how the Glide action happens and how everything fits nice and snug on each other

Thanks for Taking the time and I hope this will help some of you on if you want this top or not so far I love it

Here's the final pics guys

Unlike other soft tops the NX Glide has 2 storage pockets on the inside of the top very useful for storing anything small like glasses papers what ever can fit in there

This picture shows how the side windows mount on the inside making the back/side of the windows not flap at all as there is an aluminum plate that's been stitched on the side of the dindows that little chrome tab is what holds the side window firm in place

This is the rear side of the soft top and how the rear window snaps into place it's the same design as when tucking the side windows on to the tub of the jeep

And the top of the rear window where it glides off, unhook one part of the rear window on the side and then you can glide/slide the whole back window with little effort

This is the the section on the rear window that tucks into place on to the rear window soft top

This how it looks like when the rear window is joined with the soft top itself
