Bestop under-seat security boxes

Once in awhile you buy something expecting it to be good, and you're pleasantly surprised when it's built like an effing tank. These security boxes are the real deal. They weight a ton, install very easily, and provide just enough secure storage for basic necessities like wallets, watches, keys, phones, guns, etc. For the price (I got one for the driver's seat and one for the passenger's seat for around $50 each) you really can't beat it. One stolen item and you've paid for them. Not to mention, you get to use wasted space for storage, which is always an issue on the Wrangler. If you're looking for any specific dimensions, let me know. Very large, full frame handguns might be an issue, but most personal effects would fit without any issue.

Two thumbs up Bestop.

Re: Bestop under-seat security boxes

Very simply....there is a cross brace that bolts to the box from underneath. The cross brace slides under the steel seat frames. You sandwich it between the seat frame and the floor and re-install the 2 seat frame bolts. Very secure.
The Bestop website has a video showing installation. I spent 45 minutes installing both and taking my sweet ass time doing it. The seat bolts did require a large wrench and an impact.

Well, you don't HAVE to have an impact...I went most of my life without one and survived with a large 1/2" ratchet. It just makes life a lot easier.

I'd add to TJXJWJ about how tough /useful / easy to install /economical these things are, whether you get it from Bestop or Tuffy. I tried locking my glovebox & center console once -- BAD idea. Some jackleg with a crobar made quick work of both...breaking them in the process. Items he stole were a pittance compared to cost to repair damage. I put in a Tuffy glove box, and didn't bother fixing the center console. Lesson learned -- if it's not solid enough to deter a thief, don't even bother to lock it! And, yes -- I do have the driver side underseat box...not at all difficult to install, even without the impact.

Re: Bestop under-seat security boxes

Sounds like a winner,I'm assuming you slide the seat all the way forward or back to hide the box from sight?

For reference it lines up pretty much exactly with the front seat supports, so if your seat is all the way back maybe 2-3 inches will be nominally visible ... but, honestly, with the angles/colors involved even then you aren't going to notice it right away -- especially if the door is closed. It doesn't much matter in this case, because unlike the OEM glove box & center console, a thief isn't getting into this without taking your seat out ... a highly unlikely prospect.

Re: Bestop under-seat security boxes

Yeah you're really not going to notice it if your seat is somewhere in the middle or even closer to the rear of it's adjustment. If the seat is slid forward, you REALLY can't see it. It's black though, so it just blends in. It does not attract attention at all.

Re: Bestop under-seat security boxes

The profile is slim enough as to not interfere with the seat operation or snagging on various wire connections underneath?
