Re: Color Top Option or Not?

I went with black top with red. Red with red just looked like too much red to me. However, on black I would probably go with painted black.

Hey I remember that day! My wife and I were sitting in our CJ5 laughing at you two in your four door JKU because you thought you had a real jeep! Crazy world huh?

You seem to be missing the big issue here. Why do you have the top on at all in the warm months?

OP, go with the standard black. It looks great and it holds up better. I love black vehicles so a black Rubi HR with standard black hard top and fenders are the ticket.

CJ5 a real Jeep? You've gotta be joking! It doesn't have flat fenders, doesn't have enough slats in the grill and probably has way too many cylinders creating too much horsepower...plus it wasn't built by Bantam, I mean Ford, I mean Kaiser, or Toyota, or Mitsubishi, or Mercedes, or Chrysler. In fact, it might have been built by AMC instead of Willys, so really it's no better than a poser M715, or Jeepster, or FC, or whatever arbitrary standard someone is holding.

Btw: I've spotted a few Jeeps out there with body-colored hard tops and black flares...and didn't mind it so much. Still not something I'd spend money on to then see get scratched up by tree branches on the trails.

I was all set on getting a black top, but this post convinced me to order a white one. I went down to the dealership last week and put my hand on the inside of the roof of both a black top and white top. I couldn't believe the difference in the amount of heat between the two. In AZ that kind of difference matters. The rest of the year the top will be off, but at least during the summer it will be bearable.

That's logic I can understand.
