Dealership vs Car Broker

Hey guys, was wondering if anyone had any thoughts or dealings with a car broker verses a traditional dealership experience. Here in New York these car brokers have opened a number of store fronts in the last 5 years.

I have never used one I can see how they could be useful if you don't want/don't have time to put the effort into negotiating the price of a vehicle. It probably won't result in the lowest possible price because the broker will take a cut. It all comes down to the value of time vs money and that on the individual to decide.

I'd be very skeptical of broker, who are they really working for seller or you? My concern would be them trying to hide something that dealer tells them to get you to make a purchase. Their trying to get as much from you as possible while beating seller up, maybe I am just paranoid.

There could be some of that going on. If there are a few in the same area like the op describes, they are also competing with each other which would tend to make them give you a decent price. Like I said, I have never used one so I could be completely wrong about this.
