Re: Don't know if i should buy a wrangler.

So what's the main problem on long trips? Is it just too bumpy and poor acceleration compared to the GC. Curious because I have a GC, but have a Altima coming off lease in a few months and am thinking...

Only thing I see is gas mileage, and I have mud/rock tires.

Don't know if i should buy a wrangler.

I think if the wrangler gets a little more refined and goes hybrid it will be even more popular.

The Wrangler, even in the 4door models, is still a 4wd solid axle vehicle with a short wheelbase and a high center of gravity.

For moderately long trips at moderate speeds, it is OK, but it is by no means as easy to cross country as either a Cherokee or Grand Cherokee.

Re: Don't know if i should buy a wrangler.

To get to the point of NYC and my two cents.

If 90% of your life is urban/downtown I don't see the point in a Wrangler.

Wranglers - I love them... I own one... I live in suburban stick-ville type area.

While guys on here pan other Jeeps like the new Cherokee and the even newer Renegade they are made for the "urban terrain". They have unique features, are comfortable, and easy to maneuver downtown.

Re: Don't know if i should buy a wrangler.

Living in NYC do you use your car daily or take the metro a lot. I lived down there for a couple years and used the metro for everything and never needed a car. If that's the case a wrangler wouldn't be bad for weekend excursions. Also with the freedom top, since in NYC a hard top would be way more desired than a soft top, you can have a bit of the open air feeling while not having to remove the top.

I live in a apartment and park in a garage so I basically have nowhere to put the hardtop if I take it off. My brother has a charger blacktop and my sister has a GC altitude, I'm looking to add another mopar to the family. Is the wrangler a good vehicle for me? How is the ride? Is it good for long trips?

Thanks in advance
Do you park in a secured private garage stall, or a community parking garage open to all apartment dwellers? I'd worry about vandalism of a soft top in the latter situation.

Re: Don't know if i should buy a wrangler.

if you don't go off road but drive in bad weather then the GC with all wheel drive is for you.
I bought a GC last year kept it for 9 months and 1 hunting season then traded it in for a Wrangler Unlimited Sport and could not be happier.

Don't know if i should buy a wrangler.

I live in Greenwich, CT so an hour or so out of the city and bought my first Wrangler in 2011 (feel so stupid now that I waited so long to own one) Was looking for something different and after test driving every SUV out there, my wife and I both agreed the Jeep was by far the most fun we had. Put 75k on that JKU in 3 1/2 years and it was really the only thing I drove (have some pretty cool auto options in the garage too).
Just bought a 2015 Rubi X JKU fully loaded........I will never be without a Wrangler..........love driving it in NYC.......don't think twice about it, buy the Wrangler. 😀
