Question Don't know if i should buy a wrangler.

I can't decide if I should buy a 2014 white wrangler altitude. I live in nyc so I wont be doing any off-roading (nyc streets are off-road lol) and don't know if the jeep will be any fun for me with my situation. I live in a apartment and park in a garage so I basically have nowhere to put the hardtop if I take it off. My brother has a charger blacktop and my sister has a GC altitude, I'm looking to add another mopar to the family. Is the wrangler a good vehicle for me? How is the ride? Is it good for long trips?

Thanks in advance

Re: Don't know if i should buy a wrangler.

In the end the only one that can determine if the car is worth it is you. I've always wanted a Wrangler but told myself it's too impractical, too much money, and then I drove one. Fell in love and now my Rubi X should be on it's way to a dealer soon. The ride quality over potholes and bad Michigan roads was much better in the Unlimited than the 2 door. Spend a few weeks test driving them on and off and see what you think.

Re: Don't know if i should buy a wrangler.

I have a 2013 JKU with 14,000 Km on it and I can tell you my personal experience thus far.

- The 3.6 Pentastar is just "okay" for me keep in mind I'm coming from a Jeep srt8.
- Hardtop leaks. Not a big deal for me.
- So far not a single problem aside from the automatic transmission recall and the leak.
- It does a little bit of wandering on the highway but I do 100% city driving so again it doesn't bother me.
- Jeep culture is awesome.
- Going through snow storms up here in Canada was so much fun. I mean just after going through that horrible winter we had I know I made the right choice buying this Jeep.
- Do I regret it? Absolutely not.

Best thing to do is to rent a Jeep for couple of days to get a real feel of how it drives.
Good Luck

I don't know about the leak. It does snow often in nyc so i know i will have fun with that. What do you mean by wandering?

Hi, the jeep does wander when new, after you put some miles on the tires the wander is less, the good news; better your jeep wanders then your wife! Get a wrangler you will have fun every time you drive.

Re: Don't know if i should buy a wrangler.

I struggled between a wrangler and a GC before I bought my GC Limited. I know the wrangler has the fun factor built into it, but if your saying you don't go off-road and you won't be able to take the top off, that's alot of fun out of the equation. Also you mentioned long trips, I don't think there's any comparison between the two. The GC will over you much, much more pretty much in terms of everything on pavement especially long trips.

Agreed - it's fantastic.

I don't think a soft top is the best choice for living in NYC. I also wanted a Wrangler and ended up with an 'extra' vehicle that is a '75 CJ5 that is just for fun. But I have the room for it - you apparently do not.

Bottom line - get what makes you smile.

I have a '12 GC Limited and a '14 Wrangler Unlimited. Totally different vehicles, but I love them both. The GC is obviously much more luxurious, but the Wrangler is way more fun. In 2.5 months, I've put 5k miles on my Wrangler and haven't touch my GC...

You can off-road through Central Park. That might be fun!
