Factory Hood Options

Hi All,
Traded my '10 Unlimited Islander in a year ago for an SUV and convertible but am now starting to look at replacing the SUV with another Wrangler. Since I enjoyed owning an SE, I'll probably buy another--which versions come with the Power Dome hood, and are there any other stock hood options (besides decals)?

Thanks!

Re: Factory Hood Options

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't the power dome hood originally part of the Rubicon 10th Anniversary edition? It does fit 2007-up Wranglers and can be bought separately.

From the Jeep site, it looks like it's on the 2016 75th Anniversary edition and the Rubicon Hard Rock edition. Every other model shows the traditional flat hood.

When my hood was hit with a pipe on the highway a couple years ago, I had it replaced with a PD--looked great on the Stone White Islander with black cowl covers.

Re: Factory Hood Options

I think the PD hood really adds to the look of the Wrangler.

Below is that I think of, when I think of the factory power dome hood, found on special editions like this Polar Edition.

I don't believe there are currently, at least not if you're planning on getting a package that already has the hood you want on it. The hood you had on your Islander is the only other hood option available from the factory right now as far as I'm aware, and it's only available currently on the 75th anniversary model and the Rubicon Hard Rock.

What hoods are you predicting on the various 2017 special editions?

I honestly couldn't say. I wouldn't guess that they would bring back the hood used on the Arctics, but if the tooling is all still there, I guess it could happen. I also can't see them retooling for a special one off hood for only one model year. I would guess whatever special editions come with different hoods, they'll likely have the same hood as the current Rock Hards.
