Factory Service Manuals?

In searching this (and other) forums, it appears that Factory Printed Service Manuals are a thing of the past and are now in electronic version only. Correct?

I found and looked on the TechAuthority site and it appears that you can buy a CD based Service Manual but not for a 2016 JK.

Does anyone have any of these CD's for earlier years?

Is the complete manual on them or is it merely a index to files sitting on a server somewhere so internet access is required to be useful?

Can you print out the electronic pages of the CD based manual to make your own printed copy?

Are wiring diagrams included?

I noticed that you can buy a 3-day pass to the TechAuthority site. Would this enable you to download the relevant service manual or it the site strictly 'read-only' or....?

Thanks!

-steve

Re: Factory Service Manuals?

I've a '13 and have two electronic CD manuals for it. Neither of them work in my Windows 7 laptop or desktop since automatic updates did their thing a few months ago. I have an old windows XP laptop out in the shop that works just fine with them! ALMOST all files reside on the CD, but there are some special tool references that take you online to a vendor that from my experience doesn't carry the tool. My example is the adaptor for a ball joint press. I got the special tool I needed via EBay and likely for 1/4 the price.

The CDs are nothing like the old paper manuals, but they do provide what you need to know as long as it's not specific wiring diagrams. Removal, replacement, and rebuild (when factory recommended) are covered completely like brakes, ball joints, steering, axles and much more. How to remove and instal the interior is included as well as extensive troubleshooting sections. Trouble codes as well as electrical parameters and test points.

Wiring diagrams are available here for 2010 thru 2016... https://techauthorityonlinedemo.extr...ew/classic.htm Plug in your VIN or it's also listed by year and model.

I can't comment on a 3 day pass to TechAuthority. Pulling and printing the manual would be a monumental task for me, but perhaps you don't mind that type of thing.

They are pretty large, but for a good number of dollars, a local printshop could print and loose leaf or even bind them.

Would you be interested in off-loading one of those 2 2013 manuals?
