Have a Jeep in the garage again

After a four year hiatus, we have a Jeep in the garage again

Just picked up a nice 07 Wrangler Unlimited Sahara. Lowish 78k miles for an 07, and it allows me to finally get a Wrangler - I always wanted one. I knew the original owner, he was a very meticulous guy so past history is no worries and I know it was maintained.

I have not done a lot of research, this happened a little out of the blue. Original owner friend passed away a few months ago, his wife asked me to sell the Jeep on her behalf, and after a week of having it and dealing with Craigslist scum, I decided to buy it. Feels like a failed puppy foster experience.

I have started to read about the JK as well as the 3.8L motor. It seems a bit controversial in regards to durability and power delivery. I looked at several forums and it seems like there are few threads about mechanical issues - at least compared to what I recall with the WJ. Seems like very little activity here on the Garage, does this mean they're solid and relatively problem free? I already know it's slow and I'm fine with that, but I hope it holds up. If anyone has suggestions for where to get more info on the JK I would welcome it.

Despite a fairly bad experience with a V8 WJ, frustration with Jeep being unable to deliver the WK2 diesels several months after launch, I'm thrilled to have a Jeep again.

Gratuitous shots of the "new to me" Jeep.

Current - 07 JKU
Past - 02 WJ Ltd 4.7 - RIP 10-01-11
Missed opportunity - CRD WK2

I've not heard many complaints at all about these vehicles when it comes to daily driver dependability. I have to imagine it's one of the most written about vehicle in the world of forums, so if you ever suspect an issue, you won't have any trouble finding information. Congrats on your Jeep from a fellow ex-V8 WJ'er.

You can build that baby with a Corvette or Hemi motor, a lift and tires and guys with new ones will be drooling.

Or you can drive it stock and enjoy the heck out of it that way, either way congratulations.

There's nothing like owning a Jeep.

Re: Have a Jeep in the garage again

I debated whether to get a 4 door or 2 door Wrangler. Ended up going with a 2 dr 2010 this past Monday.

That looks really nice and is making kinda think I should have gone 4 door.
