Hood Locks?

Just ordered a 16' JKU (previously owned two GC's), and was poking around on Mopar and found hood locks. Realize the Wrangler uses external catches, so its not the most secure, but are these really necessary?

Do you trust people enough to not use one?

Re: Hood Locks?

I got the Mopar Hood Lock. The one that installs behind the front grill, and uses the ignition key.

While not Fort Knox, it should deter the opportunist thief from gaining easy access to under the hood.

I bought the Bolt hood lock.

https://www.boltlock.com/product-spe.../jk-hood-lock/

https://www.boltlock.com/shop/chrysl...locks/7026128/

https://www.amazon.com/BOLT-7026128-...gler+hood+lock

According to Bolt, they make the locks for Mopar. The only differences are the rubber cover says "Bolt" instead. And the Bolt lock sells for half the price of the Mopar. Watch the youtube videos on how to install. You'll need a rivet gun capable of handling 1/4" rivets. Get one with long handles. It'll go easier.
This one will do the job. It took me less than a half hour and it was my first time removing the front grill.

Re: Hood Locks?

I guess it depends where you live and where you park it. I'd be more concerned with security of the cab and cargo areas, and even wheel locks before the hood. Seems to me like most people don't even know how to open a hood anymore these days.

Unless there is a pokemon under your hood, no one is likely going under there.

Re: Hood Locks?

I have the Bolt, it's nice. I just needed to borrow my mechanic's heavy duty riveter to do the install.
