Is $3500 off MSRP a decent deal?

Looking at a 2015 Rubicon unlimited. Was getting ready to order, but found a jeep that has almost all the options I want. Initial offer from the dealer is $3500 off sticker. What kind of deal can I expect on a 2015 right now?

Thanks in advance.

Values of deals are best expressed in percentages instead of dollars IMO. I just ordered a 2016 Willys for $3815 or 10% less than MSRP. I would have shot for the same 10% if I was ordering a $50,000 hard rock, but obviously that would have been $5000 off MSRP.

All of that is obviously for 2016s, I would suggest you could do better on a 2015 still on the lot, but I don't have experience with that.

You can expect to pay roughly the same price for a 2015 as you will for a 2016. Sure, you may find a dealer that wants to get last years models off their lot, but they're not gonna lose money in the process. Wranglers hold value better than almost anything out there.

Heck USED wranglers that are YEARS old and have thousands of miles on them are fetching damn near new price.

Need to consider the powertrain warranty difference...

The fact is this 2015 has been on the lot since September? They started building the 2016s around then.

What's the MDH number on the driver side door jam? That will tell you the build date.

If you buy the 2015 it will be a year older model... is time an issue? Can't wait 4 weeks for a factory order?

I can definitely wait for a custom order. In the past I have been able to get some amazing deals on leftover models. Sounds like jeep doesn't really deal like that when it comes to wranglers.

Thanks for those who took the time to chime-in. Appreciate that feedback.

Register on treadlightly.com. It gives you 1% below invoice on any Jeep, which I have used now to buy 2 Jeeps, both of which were around $4000 or so off. It takes 30 days after you register to get the code, and it costs $100 to register, but will save you in the long run (if you are willing to wait the 30 days)

Never mind the sticker price ask to see the inventory pricing or what the dealer paid for the vehicle. Start negotiating from there not the sticker.

I wouldn't waste your money on the membership. There is a dealer on the forum offering 5-7% below invoice depending on the model. I had a local dealer match the price of another group buy last year and was able to get 5% below invoice for my fathers wrangler.

Re: Is $3500 off MSRP a decent deal?

FWIW I ordered my Jeep on Monday and negotiated from 32425 to 28100 - mind you that included an affiliate 1% discount and my $500 'golden ticket' - but overall that's $4325, which is a hair over 13% under MSRP.

However, I'd imagine a pretty substantial deal could be worked out on a 2015 right now, I'd work out what you're willing to pay for it and decide whether it's worth buying a year old or ordering new.

My last 3 Chrysler vehicles I have got 3% below invoice. If you have a pulse you can get 1% below. Also my last 3 were ordered in the fall just after the new models started rolling off the line so no other discounts were available and I had my own financing.

Re: Is $3500 off MSRP a decent deal?

If your dealer isn't willing to give you at least 3% off invoice on a special order, find another dealer.

And I agree, the Tread Lightly 1% below invoice isn't really good at all.

(Unless you got selected to buy a Red Rock - then it's a killer deal)

I just ordered a 2016 JKUR at 5% below invoice without too much work.
