Jeep Dealers

So am I the only one that finds that Jeep/Dodge dealers are particularly hard to deal with.

I currently own a 14 Durango Citadel (truly an amazing car), lease is up in a few months and was thinking of a JKU (Sahara or 75th ) or maybe another Durango, and just wanted to get a sense of the lease deals for either, anything new, would they consider buying back the Durango, etc. All dealers have the same drill - they just want your info - flood you with emails and calls - but won't give you info unless you go there in person. Even worse you have 10 different people calling you even after you said please don't.

We purchased a Cherokee for my in-laws earlier this year and I walked away from a local dealer after the 2 hr "let me talk to the manager" dance and the sales guy shows up with an invoice that had almost 1k in dealer fees.

I have found most of the salespeople the worst informed about their product willing to lie about anything and acting as if they are doing you the favor of selling you a car. I have us the luck of buying many cars from high end to entry level and never had this experience before.

It's a shame as the product is truly good - I test drove the new Volvo XC90 and the Audi Q7, and although interior quality is much better, the Durango is more fun to drive and as well or better equipped.

Like many business that are being reinvented (Uber etc) there has to be a better way to buy a car.

Well, thanks feel better for venting !!! I have a few more months so will continue enjoying my car until I have to (like a dentist visit) go and deal with a dealer.

Re: Jeep Dealers

Our local jeep dodge is hard to deal with. They may say the same about us being the hardest customer, but we've tried three times and now here I am In the market for a wrangler and an old friend of mine works there. Wants our biz and I truly want to give him (not the dealership) another chance but Hubs doesn't think I'll get the deal I would somewhere else. I'm sorta stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Re: Jeep Dealers

I find salespeople are like IT support people. There are three kinds.
  • Those who know their job well (but typically move onto better paying jobs).
  • Those who think they know their job, but don't.
  • Those who know they don't know everything, and are very accepting of any self-help you can provide.
I had a good experience buying our Charger and Wrangler with salesman type #3. He accepted what I said, and did what I asked.

Re: Jeep Dealers

I just ordered from Koons, a vendor here. I initially sent a private message to verify I was a member of Jeep Garage.

Through subsequent emails I told Craig exactly what I wanted. He prepared a preliminary order and emailed it to me with the exact cost to me including their processing fee and my registration fee for Delaware.

I then visited the shop and met with Craig and Erica, both very friendly. My only issue is that I ordered the new Indigo / Sky Gray interior. Since mine might be the first one they see, Erica informed me that I might find her finger prints all over it.

Re: Jeep Dealers

I live in Houston, was following a couple Koons jeeps, and the price went 2300 bucks. Sent another email to the dealership and was told that that price stands, as I was looking at the 75th anniversary 2 door. 700 miles closer in Hattiesburg, MS - I contacted McMullen and they matched the original price listed on Koons website, PLUS had a cheaper processing fee of 195, saving me even MORE money. No BS, no let me talk to the manager do you want the special undercoating and vin number etched on the glass for more $$. The price was decided on, agreed to and the deal was done.
We drove up, walked in and out in less than an hour. BEST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!!! That let me talk to the manager nonsense makes me cray cray. You would think after all these years they'd work up a new schtick.
Call Jason Sinclair. He's a jeep fanatic and soooooo easy to work with.

How did you get the Jeep Garage special pricing from Koons before you made your first post? Just curious how that worked?

Re: Jeep Dealers

Maybe since you were not a Jeep Garage member when you contacted Koons, you were not eligible for the Jeep Garage deal. Sorry if you didn't do your homework.

"Koons Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/Ram is proud to announce the return of the DC Group Buy for 2016!!

Jeep, Ram, Dodge products are 7% below invoice and Chrysler, Hard Rock, Altitude and High Altitude models are 5% below.

Exceptions: SRT8/Hellcat/Lifted (Custom) Wranglers"

I thought the same thing as the dealer might have matched the Koons website price but that isnt the price you would have paid as JG member. I bought from Erica in march and been working with craig as they are both awesome people. i will buy from them again

Re: Jeep Dealers

I've seen the Koons post in other Jeep forums, so I don't think it's exclusive to this one alone. That's how I found out about them.

The sales rep I spoke with said that they would only honor the discount on new builds, not current inventory. Not discouraging anyone to work with Koons, good experience and all. I'd probably start there the next time.

I'm new to owning a new, but not brand new. I lost custody of my previous jeep in a divorce a number of years ago, and have been looking for another one since that time. If my friends saw the post about not doing research? They'd probably groan. I've been obsessive and yapped about this for at least the last 5 years.

Totally cool with what I paid, and happy that it was a thousand miles closer to Houston. We were there and back in one day. Working with McMullen was a breeeeeze!

Thanks for posting. I wasn't sure how it worked since I've never done it. I'm glad it worked out for you. Saving that long drive was worth money in itself. Welcome to Jeep Garage.

That is not how it works. There are only 2 representatives Craig and Erica who handle Jeep Garage deals. They will sell you in stock or you can order. In the guidelines is says to give them your first and second choice of color. That wouldn't be necessary if they only offered the deal on ordered cars. The person who posted this did not follow the simple guidelines posted in our vendor section. Since Milous has the invoice prices posted it is easy enough to figure a price yourself. My guess is that the deal in question wasn't for 7% below invoice.

As long as they are happy with their deal, that's good.

Re: Jeep Dealers

Well I have a HUGE feeling iI'll be making that trip to Koonz. Lol. First of all, Craig gave me a quote and my hubs said still too much, I admit, I added a few more expensive options that I didn't have added before (hehe, OOPS) anyhoo, my hubby is one of those who thinks everything you have is WAY too HIGH and he prices his stuff outta skelter, get my drift? He's a mess lol. But yes I really don't think our local dealer will touch Koonz price quote they gave me so we'll be driving that way for like 9 hours one way ( I think) By the time we get there I'm sure hubby will have me stuffed in the trunk. But that's ok because I'll get to drive my jeep back!!
