Re: Jeep plant tours?

I believe the answer is 'no'.

Also, I don't think you can pick up a Corvette right at the factory, but you can at the Corvette Museum, for around a $1,000.

I know they used to give tours LONG ago. Just wondering if they still did.

Re: Jeep plant tours?

I asked my dealer and the answer was no to both. Its a union deal on the delivery portion. If you pick it up then the transporters do not get tgeir 995. I live close and want watch it come off tge line at min and cant. I think to much work for PR.

Re: Jeep plant tours?

Most dealers are clueless about almost everything (except financing).

I asked a month ago for a 2016 wrangler in mojave sand and my local dealer said he didn't have one on the lot but could get one in 3 days.

Only after checking did he say I couldn't get that color at all.

Re: Jeep plant tours?

Tours are possible under some conditions (I've done two at JNAP), but not by just calling up and asking if you can show up. Tours cause myriad issues with expense, safety, logistics, and production scheduling, so unlike the old days they are difficult to set up.

Plant tours? I haven't heard of any

Pickup at the manufacturer? No. Unions want their $995 delivery fee, blood money, no matter what.

Factory delivery for the corvette is only at the museum and its $900-1000. You still get charged the delivery fee on top of that as far as I know

Re: Jeep plant tours?

well, no need to beat up on unions.. the plants are not set up to deal with customers; that's what dealers are for.

Also, dealing with a customer at a manufacturing plant is far from free, especially if a tour is involved..

We do a lot of customer witness and performance run-in testing on the products we build. Restricted and guided plant tours are available to the customer as part of that if they wish.

You're totally correct in what you're saying. There's a lot involved with this... and it's not free, the customer pays dearly for it.

Re: Jeep plant tours?

I wasnt beating up the union. I was just stating a fact. A huge part of not being able to do factory pickup any more is due to the carrier contracts. I am not talking about tours just factory pickup. Tours cost the plant time and money that is a no brainer.

Re: Jeep plant tours?

A group from jeep forum was able to set a tour up years ago by contacting jeep through social media.

The Corvette plant sits directly behind the Museum.

For an extra $1,000 they'll let you fish your brand new Corvette out of sinkhole!
