Jeep wrangler undercoating

There is a brief discussion about having undercoating put on their Jk's. When I ordered on Saturday the sales guy told me that jks don't have any under belly protection and offered something done by them. Have people had lineX do theirs?

What are other options? Is it even really necessary?

I'll bump this back up because I'm interested in this too... and in general protection of my new (Sunset Orange to be ordered on Sept 8th) Jeep.

I'd like to hear what the DIY guys are doing to protect their investments... Undercoatings, paint sealants, seat protection, hardtop, etc, etc.

Re: Jeep wrangler undercoating

Skip the dealer stuff, overpriced. Linex or any other reputable spray in bedliner company would do the trick. I know a lot of the towns/villages around me use Fluid Film on all the plow/dump trucks and some of the PDs do as well on the squads. It looks messy but I guess it's a good rust inhibitor.

Re: Jeep wrangler undercoating

My understanding is that the local LineX dealer around here won't apply it as undercoating. Not sure why other than they probably just don't want to mess with it? Probably wise to check if anyone's looking to go that route.

Re: Jeep wrangler undercoating

I remember a few decades ago, the "in" thing to do was to get your new car or truck Ziebart'ed. There were franchise locations all over the place. I haven't seen a franchise for years now.

To maintain your Ziebart rush guarantee, you had to go in like once a year for touch-up. I think that's still good advice for any undercoating/rustproofing. Periodically check for any openings, since if water or salt gets behind the undercoating/rustproofing, it can make things much worse.

Re: Jeep wrangler undercoating

Each fall I spray my undercarriage with two cans of Amsoil Heavy-Duty Metal Protector after a thorough wash. It has done a good job at keeping my 2010 Rubicon undercarriage clean.
