Re: JK Wrangler manual transmission
I don't have an issue with the idea of foreign parts. I'm pretty sure the manual in my 98 cherokee is by Aisin Warner which was at least half Japanese. I like it because it is inexpensive and bulletproof as they say. Also I'd be interested in a diesel which would almost certainly be from VM Motori in Italy. German cars and parts tend to be very expensive (Mercedes, BMW, Audi) on the whole and reliability is generally not very good.
I bring up this topic because it is an interesting time for Wrangler. If in fact a diesel is offered will it be paired with a manual? If so the current one or a different one? Also the new Wrangler is in the works for 2017. By then the NSG370 will be pretty old. Will they keep it? Or go with a new one? Also my Cherokee is approaching 260K. So the day is coming when I'll need a new ride.
