Re: JKU leather seats

Really? I wish I did have leather. I have considered getting katzkin leather so many times. I'm hesitant on pulling the trigger. I did order a leather cover for the armrest. $32 on eBay, fits right over the armrest, supposed to fit and stay really well

Re: JKU leather seats

I know a TON of people with leather that wish they had fabric...because it's too hot in the summer or too cold in the winter, or too slippery, etc. Unfortunately, none of them own JK's. I'd MUCH rather have leather personally. So much easier to clean.

Re: JKU leather seats

I just ordered my first jeep, wanted leather, but liked the options/price/look of the Willy's wheeler which didn't offer leather. Got a quote from the dealership for aftermarket Katzkin, also called a local authorized Katzkin dealer. Quote from the dealership was outrageous, don't even remember total price, but almost double the other auto shop. Quote I got was 1095 for a JKU front seats + rear bench leather, 200/ seat for heated, or 650/ seat for heated and cooled, if do heated or cooled have to add perforation for 50. Sticking with the willy's and adding a premium katzkin leather was a better price for what i wanted compared to getting a rubicon (sahara wasn't an option for me since i wanted black fenders as opposed to body color).

I was worried about the too hot issue with leather mainly, but with the ability to have cooled seats through katzkin, that will help alleviate that a little. I know cooled seats isn't an option stock, but not sure if it's an easy aftermarket mod with the stock leather.

Re: JKU leather seats

Guys, don't want to hijack your thread, but I'm curious...

I love leather, but the only reason I didn't order the Hard Rock was leather seats. Don't you worry about what mud, dirt, or general exposure to the elements will do to leather seats?

Please believe me, I don't mean to insult. Just curious what your thoughts are.

Thanks,
Mark

Re: JKU leather seats

Your concerns Mark just don't apply to my use of my Jeep. I have zero intentions of getting mud anywhere near my seats, and I'm VERY vigilant about making sure I have a top either on or in the Jeep to cover in the event of weather. Personally, I think they are WAY easier to maintain than cloth. My Grand Cherokee had leather and it's the only feature I miss.
I like the cloth seats I have in mine....but if I had my way, I'd find someone with leather that hated them and just swap out the entire seat assemblies with them.

JKU leather seats

I've had leather in every vehicle I've bought in the last 9 years; I thought I'd hate having leather in the Wrangler, so I opted for cloth. 2.5 years later, and I absolutely hate the cloth. I can't wait to upgrade to a new one with leather.

Happens to the best of us buddy.

My Jeep is my daily driver and snowmobile, and I'm a detailing nerd, so that should say something. When I want go go off road, I take the Polaris through the mud

Re: JKU leather seats

I'll switch is up a wee bit - I have had leather in every car that I can remember - and truck. In 2012 I bought a Tacoma and it came with cloth seats.....never ever again.

Within the first month I ordered Wet Okole seat covers (Neoprene and FAN-freaking-tastic) and while it cost me nearly $500 for the fronts and rear 60/40 bench seat - when I brought my Taco into the Jeep dealer for trade he looked at the seats and asked me how I got 65K miles on it if I never drive it ;-)

I ordered the Sahara Edition because I could get leather. is it hot in the summer - YES - is it cold in the winter - never noticed since I am usually not wearing shorts in the winter ;-)

I am putting in a mesh SpyderWeb top under my Freedom Panels so the sun is not beating down on the interior in the summer but worst case - a towel will suffice.....

I can vouch for WetOkole covers....I had them in my old TJ and in the XJ. Excellent fit and finish. The factory cloth in the 99 and 98 vintage Wranglers and Cherokees was friggin ugly. These changed the whole look of the interior and they were functional, washable, and comfortable.
