Don't listen to the naysayers. They have no idea what they're talking about. In 15 years of dealing with Mopar's service contracts all I can say is they never gave me any trouble whatsoever regarding a repair.

Don't forget you also get enhanced roadside assistance, a rental car every time you bring it in for repair, and trip interruption coverage. I had a header bolt break while in Canada on vacation and they picked up the Jeep, gave me a nice loaner, and gave me a per diem "trip interruption" of I think $125/day for the three days it was in.

My 2002 GC had $12k in repairs over 7 years and 100,000 miles(lots of little leaks repaired and things like the heated seats...items I would not have paid out of pocket to repair). They never tried to say anything was "worn out" and therefore not covered.

The wheel and tire coverage has served me well, with a no hassle, no prorated replacement of the wheel, tire, and sensor, right at the dealership.

The only caveat I've discovered is that Lifetime coverage is generally not transferable...and I'm not hanging on to Jeeps as long as I once did. So, even though the 7/120 coverage is about the same price as lifetime, if you think you'll sell it before the 8 year mark, a fully intact, essentially bumper to bumper warranty is very valuable for a resale...
I already have maxcare but question what is the "enhanced" road side assistance vs non enhanced?

Re: Lifetime warranty worth the money?

It was worth it for our 2010 Avenger. Right after our regular warranty expired, the A/C compressor failed. Shortly after that, wheel bearings. The service manager my asked my wife if we intended on selling the car. She replied no. He said, "I wouldn't either with that warranty, that is a damn good warranty." He also said that after changing the wheel bearings on one wheel, they just didn't like the feel of the others. So they changed them all. They get paid to do the work, so they are more likely to be on your side saying it should be covered.

Re: Lifetime warranty worth the money?

Our Lifetime warranty on the Avenger cost $1,000 at the time. Pricing out the 2016 RHR, it is $2,500. That is tough to swallow. It will be a hard choice.

Not taking any chances with the new-fangled electronics.

I just bought a Mopar Lifetime Max-care for my daughters '15 Cherokee.

$2,315 from Clay at Zeller Motors: clay@zellermotors.com
No hassle, pleasure to work with. All done online. Now shows on my Mopar Owners Connect

Re: Lifetime warranty worth the money?

I was offered one when I bought the Wrangler and it was $2,7xx.

I could not pull the trigger. I got the lifetime one on my '14 SRT for $1,760

I am not sure. He started around $3k and I was not interested at all. For $1760 I thought it was a great deal. At least it gives me rental cars when my Jeep is in the shop

Re: Lifetime warranty worth the money?

I am usually one of the "naysayers" and rarely, if ever, opt for extended warranties or service contracts. However, I did opt for the MaxCare Lifetime service contract on our 2015 Limited due to all the electronic modules, controls, and computers. Most times, the average person just can't fix these things and the dealer certainly won't take them apart to repair a specific part of it. They will most likely replace the entire computer/module at a significant cost to you.

I hope I never need it, but I have piece of mind knowing that it's there. Given that we tend to keep our vehicles for "their lifetime". We traded the 2000 WJ for the new GC so we had that one 15 years and I also have a 2001 Dakota 4 door and a lifted and modified 1998 XJ.

The MaxCare Lifetime service contract does cover some surprising items ie: brake calipers, brake lines, AC compressor and clutch, shocks/struts, wheel bearings, heated seats and steering wheel...

Re: Lifetime warranty worth the money?

What about once you introduce an aftermarket lift, bigger wheels/tires, etc?

Do they throw up their hands and say "you voided the warranty due to the _____ that you put on!"

I would say that you pretty much pissed your money away at that point. At least as far as FCA is concerned. You may still have a warranty through the manufacturer of the lift kit though.

I've heard there are "mod friendly" dealers, but I would assume the majority of them are not. I know there's one about an hour away from me that a lot of people go to when they have warranty work done for that very reason.

Not something I had to deal with when I had my 08, just something I thought of when getting ready to buy a 16, which I will definitely be lifting, etc.

I guess the one safe way is to have the dealer install everything with maybe even MOPAR parts, then they have no way to say it was something YOU had done.

Re: Lifetime warranty worth the money?

Update: I decided to go with a National Warranty on the 2016 Sport Unlimited, Premium Plus warranty with $0 Deductible. Cost $2,078 but is 100% transferable and if unused after 5 years or 100,000 miles it's 100% reimbursed. I did have to add a mod addendum so I could lift it but it's worth the extra $200. As best I could tell it covered the same components of the Max Care on the Chrysler Factory plans warranty 5,000+ items. Piece of mind made it worth it for me. Hope to never use it though.

I purchased this National Warranty on my used Jetta 3 years ago and just got reimbursed the full amount paid so that added a lot of confidence.
