Need more power

I'm not looking for it run like a sport's car, but I would like to drive a little more power. I just bought it, a '92 YJ w/ 163,000 miles 4.0, I6, automatic. It rides on 31 x10.5. I'm by no means a mechanic, but pick up things pretty good. PO, I don't really know what all he did. He probably just put bigger tires on. I know that having the bigger than stock tires will decrease power. I do believe all else is stock parts. No upgrades, other than the air filter. It's I believe, says JL, and looks like a cone air filter. So here's my question, What can I do to get more power? Money is somewhat tight, but I love the Jeep and want it right. So within reason, what can I do to add more power.

Re: Need more power

Port the TB, it's a cheap mod if you have the tools to do it.

Re: Need more power

Hello, several cheap and easy upgrades are first and foremost a tune-up with the E3 plugs, new cap, rotor, and wires, upgrade your battery cable's, and switching over to synthetic oils. You can run a standard plug with a cooler rating plug but put a tighter gap and index it to the intake port. There's Air Raid throttle body spacer's and an after market exhaust's. Remember when you do anything to upgrade either intake or exhaust you need to choose to do both or else you lose out on the upgrade. Throw in a couple or ounces of Lucas upper end cylinder treatment and maybe check the serpentine belt and all the hoses. Belt slippage will causes power loss and may not be noticeable. Old hoses don't reatian the heat as well and don't allow for correct flow charecteristics. Any more help just ask.
