While wranglers hold their value very well, they are a huge fad right now. Dealers, both new and used, are asking a premium. 2009 w/133k for 21,500 is way high $ for the high mileage. Sounds like the dealer/individual is trying to rip people off and capitalize on their popularity.

I woudn't buy one pre-2012 unless it's a 4.0 2dr. you'd get a much better deal buying new at that price, granted it would be a 2dr.

Already having sold your vehicle puts you in a bit of a pickle. Unless you go new, which I would advise, you can expect to pay through the nose for something old, with tons of miles on it. You MAY find a diamond in the rough, just don't count on it.

I can look real quick through my channels and see if there's anything good

Yeah I've been looking around I've found a few under 20k finally found a 08 jku sahara for 18 with 100k miles touchscreen etc. Found a 2011 2door for 16 but after looking at it in person it's been driven hard.

Do you have specific options that are a must have? color? leather/cloth? hard top/soft top? auto/manual? power convenience group? etc

I really would stay away from anything pre 2012. The engine is just that much better

Would prefer hard top but will be ok with soft. Needs to be auto prefer power locks windows but can do with manual locks and Windows tho.

Is it just me or is 20k for a Jeep with 130k miles ridiculous?

It is the result of all the fanbois getting in on the wrangler train. It's the new cool vehicle to have. You can't keep up with the Jones's without one it seems. I wouldn't pay 10k for something with 130k on the clock. You're just asking for repair bills. One issue with the wrangler is that the used price is almost the same as the new price, and you either get crap tons of miles or brand new with less than ten, not much in between.

Is the 3.8 really that bad I test drove the 2010 yesterday and it seemed to drive really nice or should I wait for a 2012 to pop up. I'm trying to stay under or right at 20k
Go to a dealership and take a spin in a new wrangler. If theyre cool about it they will let you try out a stick, an auto and maybe even something with taller gears rather than the stock 3.21s. That will help you narrow down your choice between 3.8 and 3.6 even if you're not prepared to buy new. Good luck.

Re: New to jeeps

Yeah I've drove my sister's 3.6 to St Louis and back and it was great just been a while since then so hard to compare. I just found a 2012 2door hard top with 90k on the clock for 20. Looks good online may drive down and test drive it next week
