New to jeeps

In new here. I'm looking at trading my diesel in for a jk unlimited. The one I'm looking at is a 2009 with 133k miles. They are asking 21500. What should I look for?

Re: New to jeeps

Hi and welcome. I'm kind of hesitant giving advise on a vehicle I've not seen; however I can share my experiences with you. 2009 had the 3.8 v-6 and was considered under powered by some. The 3.6 became available in 2102 and is a much better engine in my opinion. 133000 miles is slightly high for that year (figuring 12000 miles average per year) I don't know if the price is in line with the average because I'm in Arizona and used Jeeps hold their value like crazy here. I'm sure web sites like Kelly blue book can give you an indication if the price is right. You didn't say if it was stock or modified in any way which could increase or decrease its worth.

Hope I helped a little at least.

Re: New to jeeps

I recently picked up a 2010 unlimited with 77000 miles paid 19500. These things seem to hold their value, just have to look for the right deal.

Re: New to jeeps

I just found a 2012 with 40k for 29k also a 2011 with like 50000 for 25k. Kinda leaning towards the 2012 more though since it has a hard and soft top

That shouldn't be your only concern I'd go for the 2012 since it has the 3.6, my mom has a 2011 and everyone hates driving it. Slow as hell

I would have to say so, yes. Buddy has a 2013 with the same size of tires that are on my moms 2011, his is a pleasure to accelerate in. My moms, not so much. Can hardly maintain speed.

Re: New to jeeps

Ok so I can't find any good deals on a 2012 now. I just sold my truck yesterday so I'm looking around. I found a 2011 2door and a 2010 2door that seam like a good price. 16.6 for the 11 and 17.8 for the 10 (the 10 has more options). Is the 3.8 really that bad I test drove the 2010 yesterday and it seemed to drive really nice or should I wait for a 2012 to pop up. I'm trying to stay under or right at 20k
