New Wheels and tires for 2015

I don't know anything about wheels and tires. I am looking at getting some new tires and wheels without having a lift. I like the Mammoth boulders and want to get the Goodyear Duratrac's (33. The Mammoth come in both 16 and 17's.

I would like to get this setup but don't want to deal with the rubbing that comes with some tires. Would this setup cause any issues.

Also I am still not sure if i would be better with 16 or 17. Now really sure what the difference is other than size. Does it have a performance aspect.

Thanks for any and all help.

Can't help you on the rubbing...but those are some good-looking wheels you chose.

As for diameter, I like the larger wheel personally. You've got plenty of sidewall either way. If you're a dedicated rock crawler, I'd go with the smaller wheel. The difference either way with an inch of wheel diameter isn't going to matter. More wheel is lighter than more tire...more wheel is more responsive than more rubber.

Either way, you're not running low profiles, so you'll be fine in my opinion.

My $0.02 would be go with a 17" wheel, there's far greater tire selection out there for 17 vs 16.

Rubbing is going to depend on a few things, the wheel's backspacing, the height of the tire, and the lift you're going to run. If you don't lift and run 33s, it is likely you will rub at some point.

Search around little and you'll find there's tons of knowledge with the set up you want to run.

I have 255/75R17 32.0" tall x 10" wide C load duratracs, love the way they ride. Have had them over 14 months and have worn evenly with maybe 1/16" wear. I do a 5 tire rotation every oil change. They don't rub even with the sway bars disconnected.
