I have both and don't think either is a good value. I like the 730 better, but still do not think it is worth the cost.

Re: Ordering new JK: 430n VS. 730n - Opinions?

Anyone know why Fiat doesn't just offer an option to put in, for example, the same uconnect infotainment center in the WK2? Always struck me as odd they had these crappy units in the Wranglers when they have the capability to add much better preexisting technology. One of my pet peeves when I had my wrangler was those damn units.

I have the 130n and really am happy with my decision. It has a lot of capabilities I wasn't expecting.

The Wrangler wasn't ever designed to support one of the info-central systems used in the other Jeep vehicles. For just one example, the Wrangler has physical buttons for the front seat heaters, whereas on the new systems (like the 8.4N) have the front seat heaters are soft buttons on the screen.

We have to wait to see that the new redesigned Wrangler brings for 2018, but fancier electronics seems counter to the rough-edge character of a Wrangler.

Well the 730n is not available on the 2016 per Milous, so I guess anyone ordering has no choice now.

I just ordered a 2016 Rubicon HardRock. The 730n was not offered. Only the 430n with uConnect. I'm not sure whether it's a new design or not.

Agree here. Have one in my GC and one in the Wrangler. Use Waze on my phone

Re: Ordering new JK: 430n VS. 730n - Opinions?

I've had both, the 730n RER in my 2011 Limited and the 730n RHR 2012 Overland and now the 430n RNB in my 2014 Rubicon X (so I also have connectivity).

Each has features that I like better...

430n Nav is cleaner, plus it gives you the road speed limit which I find useful and a little Jeep icon that navigates your route. I also like the black background and the larger channel logos when listening to Sirius.

730n uconnect is "faster" and easier to use when a call comes in and I like the bread crumb trail.

Both have BT Streaming audio, Sirius Traffic & Travel Link capability and the option to have the turn by turn directions on EVIC (a least in my Rubi).

When I first got the Rubi I was put off by the 430n (likely because it wasn't what I was used to) but now I like it and would probably order it to save a couple hundred.

Having said all of that, if the 730 is no longer available then it doesn't really matter.

I will say that my buddy's 2013 Sport has the 130N and it has all of the same connectivity features to include BT streaming. He purchased the rugged ridge phone holder (that replaces the factory dash tray) and uses his iphone 6 for Nav and when wired via USB (he hid the wires behind the dash) the Nav audio directions play through the speakers.
