Picked up my first Jeep!

My wife and I traded in our car as it is too small for our dog on a 2016 JKU. First time I've ever driven one and it is awesome! Lol

I've been driving it all week and I almost don't want to drive my truck again lol. I out the soft top up last night and what a b***h that was. I guess from it being brand new and me never doing it before it was a bit of a challenge. And of course today it was only 10

Re: Picked up my first Jeep!

Damn 10? Where you live? Alaska? I'm from MA and its 75 haha. Yes its difficult at first though but once you get the hang of it it takes less than 5 minutes.

And just a word word o the wise. Don't operate your soft top under like 40 BC the windows WILL crack. I had drill last December and had to put my gear in the back so I unzipped and lifted the window and heard a pop. The next morning I went outside and realize there was a huge split in the window. It turns into glass when its cold.

Gotta be up in the mountains somewhere?

Practice makes perfect. I sold my OE soft top for a bikini style one and have the hardtop. Both are "fun" the first time...but once you do it once, it's cake. The only real complaint I had about mine was the lights...the stock headlights are crap. Prepare your credit and bank account...you'll need it.

Re: Picked up my first Jeep!

Sorry 10C I live in Canada lol. I plan to switch the top back over probably in October sometime. We normally seem to get the first snow before Halloween. The headlights defiantly aren't as good as my Sierra but not the worst I've driven with. Ill probably do put these in-

Re: Picked up my first Jeep!

If you get those you'll need to get an additional "anti-flicker" harness

Oh well then... haha 10 Celsius is a whole different monster lol. -yea stock headlights suck horribly I got rid of them as soon as I could. I have the truck light headlights. I don't think the flicker is a big deal and if it makes my headlights die quicker, then whatever they were only 150 lol.

I'd be careful...as mentioned, they will likely flicker. Google searching for Jeep JK headlight comparisons will bring up a few pretty impressive studies. Everything I read points to the JW Speaker being the best, and I can tell you, they are amazing. No blinding oncoming traffic, and a crisp, white light. I was used to HID when I got this Jeep. These are better than the HID I had. You're going to spend some bucks, but for me, it was probably the best upgrade I've done. If you search this forum for JW Speaker, you'll pull up a lot of info, including my write up and some pics of how they perform vs stock.

Has anyone used the AEV ProCal? A buddy of mine bought one but then bought a lift that came with another one so he's giving it to me. Just curious about it

One thing to make sure of is that your friend reset his jeep back to stock with that procal if he had already used it. It locks itself to the jeep it was used on and can only clear the code when that jeep is set back to stock. Other than that, they are really simple devices.
