Purchasing My First JK

Hello all!

I have been looking at purchasing my second Jeep, but first Wrangler Unlimited JK. The local dealer has a 2012 with 49k miles, Sport, Heated Seats, Remote Start, lifted with over-sized Goodyear tires (new). They are asking $28,500 and that's before any negotiations. To me, 49k miles on a 2012 seems like a significant amount...especially for $28,500. Anyone have any ballpark guesses as to what this car should realistically go for? Carfax shows 1 owner, no accidents, 1 cylinder head replaced (which I am not sure if that should be a concern?).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

You can check the resale value for your area at KBB or Edmunds.

Before buying my 2015 2-dr Rubi, I contemplated buying a used Jeep but a new one only cost $29k before haggling. The resale on JKs is strong. Therefore, buy new, treat well, upgrade later. If you're cool with spending $29k for a used one with over 40k miles, then you should consider a new one.

This. Exactly what I went through except for I was looking at JKURs. Plus interest rates are usually lower for new vehicles (if you decide to finance it). Finally, new car smell in a Jeep is an experience all to itself.

Many 2012's had cylinder head issues. It's actually better that this one has been fixed.

Yeah, for that you can buy a 2014 left over for not to far from that with zero miles and full warranty. May not have the heated seats but it's a no brainier if you don't mind not having all the added goodies.
