Quadratec claims 16" wheels dont fit jks?!?

I have a new JKU about to be delivered in a few days ad I'm sorting out my mods. I noticed they only sell 17" wheels for the jk. I talked to one of their reps and they claimed that after market 16" wheels rarely fit JK calipers especially newer one...
I find it very strange that Ive never heard of this and that I know people run 15" wheels on jks with no or minimal issues.

Does anyone have any insight on this.

also as a reference I was looking at buying the rubicon extreme wheels

If they are running 15's it's because of spacers or a lot of offset. No otherway

Re: Quadratec claims 16" wheels dont fit jks?!?

I might have been mistaken. Maybe those were just steel wheels.
But regardless I'm not asking about 15s I'm really just trying to verify that 16s fit on jks and that the rep was full of it when they said only 17s fit

They will only providing you have enough back space or wheel spacers

Yeah that's what I assumed. But they were telling me 16s would contact the caliper.

Re: Quadratec claims 16" wheels dont fit jks?!?

Most 15" aluminum wheels with 4-inches of backspace or less clear the factory JK brakes, no spacers or modifications to the calipers needed. 15" Steel wheels are where you start running into issues due to how they are constructed. I can't recall coming across a 16" wheel, steel or aluminum, that didn't work on the JK; assuming proper specs of course.

Which 16" wheel are you considering?

While there is some really good stuff posted here, I also have a lot of faith in Quadratec. They know their $#!+, and if they are saying this about their 16" wheels, its based on their years of JK experience with the products they sell.

Re: Quadratec claims 16" wheels dont fit jks?!?

I agree, Quad is a respected company in this industry. We are only speaking to what we've personally test fit which is how we know most 15" aluminum wheels (4-inches of backspace or less) work.

Re: Quadratec claims 16" wheels dont fit jks?!?

The base Sport JK & JKU come with 16" steel wheels that have the model-wide 6.25" backspace. So we know at least those fit.

Re: Quadratec claims 16" wheels dont fit jks?!?

That's why this was so confusing to me. The jeep comes stock with 16" wheels, but the rep said oem 16" fit but most aftermarket 16" wheels don't in their experience. Which is a pretty hold statement.
I respect the company and they seem to have a long and positive track record. But that doesn't mean their word is the gospel especially when what their saying doesn't even pass the muster of common sense. Although I did notice the only wheels they advertise as fitting the JK are 17" wheels so maybe they do think 16s don't fit...All that aside I'm not flaming them I'm guessing it was an uninformed rep trying to BS me.

And thanks discount tire for the helpful response

Stop in a tire and wheel shop and you'll have your answer pretty quickly.

Ha I would if I could my factory ordered 16 has been sitting in a rail yard 1.5 hours away for the last 5 days, waiting for a truck to pick it up and deliver it to my dealer. Its torture so I'm easing the pain by researching my mods.

Thanks everyone for the help
