Re: Radio upgrade to 730N...can't??

That's what I've decided to do, I'm going to find the most advanced aftermarket radio/nav system that will work.
I guess my best plan of action would be to find a great stereo installation shop to see what they suggest.

Any high end model suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

From what I have seen the Alpine X009-WRA seems to be the most polished unit designed with a kit to make a beautiful installation into a Wrangler. But is is very pricey with a retail price of $3500 and I do not believe that includes installation. BTW, I have seen the kit on Crutchfield for $3000.

Additionally the Pioneer AVIC-8100NEX is also very nice and with the iMaestro integration kit can bridge the car to the radio. It is somewhere around $1200-1400 but would still need a couple hundred more for the installation kit and the iMaestro interface.

There are others out there but those are the 2 that stick in my head and probably one of those will be living in my 2016 JKUHR I have ordered once it is built. I will soon be attempting to visit some radio shops or even calling Alpine / Pioneer to get more details on how complete the integration can be....

Hope this helps....

BTW, I am in no way associated with Pioneer or Alpine, I just love car stereo and I even back about 15 years ago competed in car stereo competitions.

Yeah, i agree.... amazing and expensive.....

However, the pioneer can be had for around the same price as a 430N or a tiny bit more... i just want to verify that all EVIC functionality can pass through.. I also like that the pioneer seems to have more android integration, since i am not a fan of iphones.

My only other concern with the pioneer is the map updates and costs, but really how often do you need map updates...

Re: Radio upgrade to 730N...can't??

Just got a quote on the 8100NEX. This looks like a nice unit.

Will everything that I currently have still work?
-steering wheel control
-existing built in microphone
-all voice commands

I'm sure I'll gain a ton of features moving from the 430 to the pioneer 8100, I just want to make sure I don't loose a single feature.

Re: Radio upgrade to 730N...can't??

Did you ask if the "Electronic Vehicle Information Center" information will pass through?? Basically, the tire monitoring, AC, etc... I would love myself to know as I am steering towards that radio for my 2016 JKUHR when I get it (hopefully only 2 weeks away).

Thanks,

Re: Radio upgrade to 730N...can't??

My electronic vehicle information does not get passed through to the installed 430.
All that info is on a display in the speedometer that I control from the steering wheel.

Re: Radio upgrade to 730N...can't??

Hmm.... I just looked up what the iMaestro is capable of shuttling to the aftermarket radio.... Here is what I get....

iDatalink - Maestro - RR-CHR01-DS

Also, it seems that depending on the radio you get the iMaestro is capable of doing different things... For instance, I selected the Pioneer and it seems to be missing some of the functions that you can get with the very pricey Alpine. However, the Kenwood DNN992 i think can do the same features as the Alpine at about the price of the Pioneer... Here is what you can get with the Kenwood according to iMaestro's site.

Steering Wheel Controls
Two Functions on Each Button

Standard and Expanded Radio Functions

Navigation Outputs
Accessory Power Output (15A)

Parking Brake Output

Reverse Light Output

Re: Radio upgrade to 730N...can't??

That kenwood looks sweet. I like that the GPS is a Garmin.
It said sirius radio is an option for the kenwood. I currently have Sirius on my 430, would I have to buy the option for the kenwood?

I also like that the kenwood has wifi. I hooe this means I could do map updates from my driveway.
