Radio upgrade to 730N...can't??

I currently have the uconnect 430 installed in my 2015 2door wrangler. I was thinking about upgrading to the 730N. I was at the dealer and the service manager called mopar and they told him I can only upgrade to the 430N. He couldn't explain to me why we can't install the 730N.

Can anyone please confirm that this is in fact true?

Thanks

What model Wrangler do you have (Sport, Sahara, Rubicon, etc)?

Do you have the Connectivity Package/Group ????

I'm pretty sure I have the connectivity group.
They said I could hookup a 430N but not a 730n

Officially, a Sport can only have a 130, 130S, or 430. Seems your dealer is going by the company line.

Of course, all the Wranglers are basically the same. Unofficially, there is no reason why you could not installed a 730N. You just might need to do it yourself, or find a more friendly installer.

If you have the Connectivity Group, you have the uConnect module (adds voice commands, Bluetooth, etc). You'll need to remove it too, because the 730N has all those functions built-in. I am also of the mind to add that possibly, your dealer doesn't want to deal with removing the uConnect module, based on their comment about installing a 430N (which would continue to use the module).

Re: Radio upgrade to 730N...can't??

I do have the uconnect module. So the easiest upgrade would be to the 430N.

Is the radio that difficult to upgrade? Could a car stereo installation shop do the upgrade for me?

If I purchase a 430N from eBay is a code required to activate the radio?

It should be just unplug old, plug in new, for a 430 to 430N swap. Just the 10 minutes of dash disassembly (there are a few youtube videos demo'ing such). If you're handy at all, it might take less time than driving to a stereo shop and back.

I would not buy a used 430N from anyone unless they included the code.

Wouldn't he already have that cable, between his existing uConnect module and his existing 430 head unit? Its not a different cable for the 430N, is it?

Re: Radio upgrade to 730N...can't??

When you have uconnect you need the adapterwiring, because your 430 have a seperatly uconnect modul install, the rhr have uconnect build in!

For a working mic you need the adapter wiring...... Or you install a new mic plugged direct in the rhr, that work also

I think our confusion is that along the "trek" of this thread, the OP switch from upgrading to a 730N, to upgrading to a 430N. So, the help/hints now, should be geared toward a 430N.

Re: Radio upgrade to 730N...can't??

Now that we've discussed both the 730N and 430N it seems like they both require a little extra effort because I have the uconnect module installed.

Re: Radio upgrade to 730N...can't??

Truthfully, i wouldnt even bother with the 430N or 730N.... The technology in either of those radios is 10 years old.

You may want to look at some of the aftermarket radios that can integrate to the existing vehicle information center and uConnect. Pioneer and Alpine make some really great units that drop in and connect to the vehicles system like stock units.
