Question Rear defrost button on soft top?

First post!
Hi I am researching online for a new wrangler unlimited and I am confused by something I saw. I saw some new 2015s with soft tops (not with the dual top option) yet they have the rear defrost button on the dash. How can I order a soft top like this? Is it part of some other package? I only saw this on the sport “S package” or above never saw it on a “base” sport. Is this how they all come? also, are these also prewired for the rear wiper washer? Thanks in advance!

Re: Rear defrost button on soft top?

When you looked and saw the rear defroster switch on soft-top-only Wranglers in your dealer's lot, did you also check for the rear wiper switch on the right stalk?

Defrost button also activates the heated mirrors on my '15 JKUR, that is probably why it is still there on a soft top only JK. Maybe base sport does not get heated mirrors. Not sure about the wiring question, I got dual tops.

Thank you for the replies. Maybe it is only for the mirrors that makes sense.
I saw this online not in person so I dont know about the rear wiper switch.
Here is an example.

I haven't personally done this (a friend has), and there are hardtop wiring retro-fit kits, and different versions of these kits based on if you already have heated mirrors or not. Possibly, that's the difference; as said, if you have heated mirrors you don't need the button, just the new wiring to the rear.

Ah, I thought you saw this in person. I would not always trust the pictures are of the same vehicle. I have found lots of examples of dealers who re-use pic's because they assume nothing is different.
