Have you ever tried to actually step onto those, especially when getting out?

Re: Running Boards - Rock Rails

No. Just included them in a list of rock rails that also have tubular bars.

Re: Running Boards - Rock Rails

Much like owning a Jeep in general, rock sliders and steps are a practice in compromise.

Have to say Thanks for this tread . My new JKU will be arriving, and it includes the factory rock rails - so I'm trying to add steps for the , ahem, "vertically challenged" passengers.
Besides ACE, doesn't sound like much else fits?

Re: Running Boards - Rock Rails

Not a whole lot that would fit while still running the stock rails. You could look into have something custom fabbed locally.

Take a look at the PowerBoards by Bestop.com. They have some interesting concepts.

Waiting for my new JKUHRR!!

Re: Running Boards - Rock Rails

Ace rock rails and a set of stock Rubicon rock rails, both can be installed together. Great set up.

Looks great - any issues with the bolt-up?

Re: Running Boards - Rock Rails

Have you considered LoD. These bolt directly to the frame rails. The pluses are this is a structural stronger mount, and you can remove them as needed. The minuses are you can't run them (so I understand) with Rubi rock rails (though the plus is you don't carry around that weight) and you have to drill and tap into your frame. I have a set awaiting the delivery of my new JKUR. The Ace rails looked great, and I was going to get them but my wife demanded a flat step point to get in.
