I'm new here and new to the world of Jeep ownership. I recently purchased a 1999 Wrangler TJ Sport. 4.0L 5 Speed Manual Trans. I am leaking transmission fluid from the seals. While the shop was attempting to remove the skid plate one of the bolts on the drivers side was missing (rusted off) and another was free spinning. They are sending it to a frame shop to possibly remove all 6 and re-weld new ones on. Any insight on other options??
those should be Nutcerts , You can get them at a fastnal . I cant remember the right size though . They should pop right out ( into the frame ) with a hammer and chisel
Its a usual thing for them to rust up and break . I will try to find the correct size .
1/2 x 13 x 2" is the bolt size . They ( or you) can also weld in a square nut of that size and never have to worry about them breaking again but if the bolt breaks then you will have a hell of a time getting it out . I say go with the nutcerts ,lol
I have been in contact with the dealership where I bought the Jeep. It's a large dealer group and I'm taking it in tomorrow so their sales manager and service manager can evaluate the situation. Even though I purchased it 4 months ago they seem willing to help with the cost to make it right. The vehicle was put through their 110 point pre-trade acquisition inspection and the sales manager agreed that this should have been caught before they sold it to me. I'll keep you all posted.
The Dealership agreed to fix the frame. Offered a loaner car to boot. I bought the vehicle 4 months ago as is no warranty but the sales manager stepped up and offered to make it right. Can't wait to get my rig back on the road.
