Strange Vibration, need help

I bought an 89 YJ and for some reason, under any more than mild acceleration, the whole jeep shakes, no idea why this is, just replaced the clutch, pressure plate, pilot bearing, and throwout bearing. I did this thinking maybe it was clutch chatter or a bad bearing, but the vibration is still there. Any ideas as to what it could be? Any kind of help is greatly appreciated.

Without knowing more about your Jeep and its configuration, if you put a gun to my head I would suspect transmission mount is warn, loose or broken

Re: Strange Vibration, need help

thanks for the suggestion tho, do you think a harmonic balancer could cause that? i've heard of that happening from someone, but not sure about it. other than that my only idea is a drive shaft being bent.... which would not be fun obviously

Re: Strange Vibration, need help

Does it vibrate when you rev and hold the engine at varoius rpm bands while the vehicle is stationary?

If it's only when the Jeep is in motion have you checked the tires for out of round or flat spots?

Is the YJ lifted?

I know the YJ was known for "wobbles" under acceleration, is it not just that or is it an actual driveline type vibration?

Re: Strange Vibration, need help

I am having same problem with my 2008 wrangler. It has been in shop 3 times for this. so glad it is still under warranty but getting very frustrated. they have replaced the outer tie rods and drag links and front steering shock. The only way I can describe what happens, it is like my jeep has a seizure and goes into convulsions. The vibration is horrible and feels like the whole jeep is going to fall apart. any suggestions anyone?
