Re: Throttle Lag

Illuminating. Is it weird that I want a more mechanical, less electronic Wrangler?

Re: Throttle Lag

Hi, I own a 2014 Rubicon with a six speed manual and am having similar issues. The drivetrain feels loose and the tranny/driveline feels and sounds like worn out universals. This JK only has 4000 miles on it. My engine does not feel right either. It sounds like there may be an intake manifold leak and it really is not smooth. Anyone else having these problems?

Re: Throttle Lag

That is the plan and thanks. I was hoping for a glimmer of "oh they are all this way", glad to know they aren't. Yep, to the shop she goes. Thanks again.

Re: Throttle Lag

Random thought: have you tried turning off the Hill Start Assist? It could be malfunctioning and applying the brakes between shifts, causing the lag. I found some instructions on another forum to turn it off:

HSA Off/On Toggle = Hill Start Assist - 426 STARTING AND OPERATING - 2012 user manual

If you wish to turn off the HSA system, follow this
procedure:
1. Start with the engine off and vehicle in PARK (automatic
transmission) or NEUTRAL with clutch out
(manual transmission) with wheels straight. Apply parking
brake on manual transmission vehicle.
2. Start the engine.
3. With the engine running, the brake applied, and the
clutch out, rotate the steering wheel 180° counterclockwise
from center.
4. Press the ESC OFF switch four times within twenty
seconds.
5. Rotate the steering wheel 360° clockwise (180° clockwise
from center).
6. Cycle ignition switch OFF then ON.
7. If the sequence was completed properly, the “ESC
Activation/Malfunction Indicator Light” will blink several
times to confirm HSA is off.
Steps 1-7 must be completed within 90 seconds to turn off
HSA. Repeat steps 1-7 to re-enable HSA functionality.

Re: Throttle Lag

Or it could also be the Hill Decent Control...probably uses some of the same sensors and logic, but may be a separate system to turn off.

Re: Throttle Lag

Thanks for your post. I tried that and also disabled hill assist via personal settings to turn it off. Nothing changed to the lag, except turn off hill assist. Still, if I disconnect battery for a few minutes, the lag is reasonable until I shift into 6th gear. I can live with a certain lag that the Rubicon came with, but more than a second is a bit too much.

Re: Throttle Lag

Yeah, fully agree. I hope you get it sorted out with the dealership, pedal lag is no fun.
