Tires/Rims

New to site, I owned a jeep Cherokee many years ago and just got a jeep for my daughter. She has a 2013 jeep wrangler sport with P255/70R16 and "standard , very boring, rims" . A guys is selling 18" Jeep rims from a 2014 Wrangler (not sure model) these 18" had P255/70R18's (Dueler A/T). I checked with Jeep and the rims will fit my daughters jeep, my question is, any cautions about going from 16-18'? any thoughts about the 18" rims? will need tires (he put 4 of the tires on his truck, and put bigger rims on his jeep) should I go with the size tires he had? - the rims are beautiful. would prefer not to have to raise the jeep or alter fenders. Thx

Re: Tires/Rims

It will feel about the same from a driving standpoint and look better with a 255/70/18 due to the fact you are gaining 2" of overall diameter. The dealership should be able to make a quick adjustment to correct the speedometer if you choose to run that size of tire. Do you have a picture of the wheels?

Re: Tires/Rims

Thanks, appreciate your reply. I was concerned about raising the center of gravity but I see jeeps with much larger tires/rims. I agree that it should look better. I will try to post pictures

Re: Tires/Rims

As noted the speedometer will be slightly off, showing a slower speed than actual. This is a very quick fix with a tuner or at the dealership (some will do it, some won't). All it takes is telling the computer the new tire size via the OBDII port (plug under the dash).
Aside from that you shouldn't have any issues with fitting a 2" bigger tire on a Wrangler. I increased tire size by about the same amount on my GC, and they have a lot less room for adjustments than the Wrangler.
PS, great looking rims. I've got the 2016 style of the same rims on my GC (granite pockets rather than all silver).
