TJ Steering Column
I have a 1998 Wrangler TJ 4wd and just recently took out the complete dash to replace the AC evaporator. What a pain that was!!! So in order to get the metal framing of the dash out we removed the steering wheel with the column. So now it's time to put everything back in it's place. The one issue I'm having is getting the steering column to connect with the intermediate shaft u joint (slip joint). It should be super easy but it's not reaching now. My steering wheel is a tilt so I've tried putting the tilt all the way up and all the way down. I finally got a small bit of it in at it's highest tilt position but when i tilt the steering down it falls out. I've pushed, I've pulled, extended. I have no other ideas. This should be a simple pop in method but it's turning out to be just a severe pain in the tukas!!!! Help anyone have any clue on this, is something getting in the way that i'm over looking. is the tilt position the problem? My bolts and holes match up too....
