Tow Chains

I am curious to those in the "Know"

Are these a good set of chains? Peerless Grade 70 Tow Chain 16ft. x 5/16in., 4,700lb. Capacity, Model# 4861110 | Tow Chains, Ropes Straps| Northern Tool + Equipment

They are actually $29.99 locally right now.
if you can't go to website
Peerless Grade 70 Tow Chain 16ft. x 5/16in., 4,700lb. Capacity, Model# 4861110
Item# 43878
This 16ft. long x 5/16in. dia. Peerless Grade 70 Tow Chain features a maximum working load of 4,700 lbs. Includes a DOT approved certificate.

2in. links make up this solid chain
Links are gold plated for a great look with added strength and corrosion resistance

Thanks

Re: Tow Chains

Never use chains for recovery- ALwAYS a strap. preferably with something laid over it to kill the kinetic energy if it snaps.

chains and cables are bad news when they fail, and they do fail.

so, my shoeRt answer is, no.

Re: Tow Chains

Be Vewwy, Vewwy careful!

The energy present when moving 2+ tons of stuck load is lethal and nothing to play around with.

Educate yourself BEFORE you try to do it, not AFTER you have an accident.

Start here, these guys probably have more extraction knowledge than anyone else on earth.
