And why in the crap did Jeep decide on 7" wheels? I'd really like to talk to the one who is responsible for this lol It's a Jeep Wrangler.....it's made to turn into a beast

Many people have run 35" tires on the stock rims. 15" rims will give you more sidewall for a beefier look, just be careful with the steel rims. Those are the ones that tend to rub on the caliper.

I ran 35s on my jeep with stock fenders and the Teraflex Performance Leveling springs. I did get occasional rubbing on the rear fenders on certain bumps and potholes. I'm sure cutting them would have fixed the issue.

The bigger issue you run into is gearing. 35s will feel sluggish if you have 3.73 gears and possibly unbearable if you have the 3.21s. The tires tend to run lighter the smaller rim you go though.

Re: Upgrading to 35s. What lift should i get?

Awesome info! Thanks. I just ordered a wheel (168) and tire (315 75R16) set and a 3.5" lift. Hoping it all looks great! Figured i might as well go all out and purchase the wheels so i don't run into problems down the road. I will definitely have my mechanic look into regearing. Thanks so much for all of the great info guys!!

Do you have a two door or four door? With that much lift you'll likely need to replace the front drive shaft (4 door) or both front and rear (2 door). 3.5" is a lot of lift, there's quite a bit more to it than just shocks and springs at that point.

Didn't mean to piss in your Cheerios, just trying to be helpful!

Ok boys, another question. I've heard both good and bad things about Rough Country suspension lifts. What are your opinions?

Re: Upgrading to 35s. What lift should i get?

a friend of mine has the rough country 2.5 on his unlimited and has had no problems from it but he does not wheel. was talking to a local installer and they said they quit using it because they had a lot of people coming back with problems from it. he might have just been trying to sell his more expensive lift but suspension is kind of important so i dont want to go cheap on it either way. i keep coming back to aev, he said it would be overkill as i dont plan on any wheeling either, but spoke very highly of their components

Yeah I've heard good and bad things about RC. I'll check out prices on aev most definitely, along with Tereflex. Thanks for your opinion!
