What tires to buy? Oh my!

In the process of purchasing a 2015 Sahara wrangler loaded. Sending it to rms off-road in Bohemia ny to do a bds 3 inch lift, ave performance hood, rugged ridge front ext bumper and rear Bumber. Looking for 17" rims for the job. But im not sure which tires. I drive 99 percent of the time on the lie highway. This is gonna be my daily. I'm stuck. Any help? I want them to look rough but don't want to compromise the noise and road quality.

Re: What tires to buy? Oh my!

My round trip is just under 70 miles per day. I did Duratracs 315/70/17 with a 2.5 inch lift. Great in rain and snow, pretty tough looking and quiet. Overall, very happy with them. I'd definitely go with them again.

What rims did you use and how would they fit up with either the MoPar 2" lift or a 2" front 1"rear leveling kit?

The tire filled in nicely, still gave plenty of room for flex.

Re: What tires to buy? Oh my!

My vote goes to DuraTracs as well. I've run them now for 3 summers, (I take off my custom rims for the winter and run the stock Sahara rims with the Bridgestone AT's), not because their no good in the snow, the one snow storm I did get caught in they preformed flawlessly. I've taken two trips (from Ontario, an hour north of Detroit Mic.) to the east coast via NY, VT, NH and Maine and home through Canada, and last year out to Montana with a side trip to Idaho (to cross that state off my bucket list) and the tires still have plenty of wear left on them. They are not noise free but WAY less then any other brand my buddies run with, they however never leave the area so they would have no concept of what 8 to 10 hours of highway drone will do to your mental capacity!!

Re: What tires to buy? Oh my!

I ran 33x12.50 Duratracs on my brand new JKU and they were quiet for the first 5,000 miles then I did a cross rotation on them and the noise level went up. Like most aggressive tires, they get louder as they wear. The rain traction was not good at all when they were new, but got a little better with some wear. Still need to be careful on them though. Snow traction was excellent. Mud traction was excellent. Since the Duratrac is so lightweight they save some fuel also compared to a true MT tire. Overall I was very happy with them...I just think they are over priced.

I'm rocking Cooper AT3s now and LOVE them. Silent on the road, great fuel economy, excellent rain traction, and never get stuck in the snow/mud with these either. Plus the prices are very good on them and they are made in the USA.

Re: What tires to buy? Oh my!

Look at the new Nitto Terra Grappler G2 tires. I just put them on my mostly street driven JK and love them. Aggressive look, quiet, still a P rated tire (lighter and better ride) and great wet and snow rated traction. Also, they much cheaper than the Duratracs.

I took those POS SRA's off, thank god.

Quick pic.
