I second the motion for gecko! I totaled mine and never got to replace its glory. Lol also the wait for the 75th anniversary editions is gonna be tough. I had hoped they'd release earlier than that.
That pretty well stinks. They can't get rid of the current color choices soon enough for me. The worst selection running for the longest time is crazy, especially if there aren't any notable changes coming. 2016 isn't even really a model year change to begin with what the heck is the point of putting it off?
What's the point in the change for one year? Nevermind that I've seen multiple places that the GC would be the guinea pig for all of the 3.6. There's no hurry to launch on multiple platforms at one time. No reason to update a end of platform model either. Its just time to milk the last sales out of the mature cash cow.

So, has the diesel been 100% removed from the drawing board of the 2016 model? I admit that I thought it possible a couple years ago with all the rumor mill articles. Especially with the, "boost sales before they bring in the redesigned model" line. Now, not so much...

I am not too sure what that Edmunds story really means. The way I read it, their use of the term "2016 Wrangler" is their way of referring to the highly anticipated redesigned Wrangler. At some point, such was assumed to be coming out for the 2016 MY, but newer info all points to the 2018 MY.
As to a diesel in a US Wrangler, the only credible hint comes from the Jeep exec who said that he would not invest in putting a diesel into any other US Jeep models until the Grand Cherokee diesel sales in the US double.
Also, tried to find a comparable motor already in the market- possibly the GM 3.6 in the Terrain, stats are not too impressive and very similar to the current 3.6, to include hp/tq/mpg...
So DI is confirmed for 2016? That sucks! DI engines run dirty. The soot on the tailpipe will make you cringe thinking about what's going on internally. Better change the oil every 3K!! And there is little to no real world power or mileage benefit.
"M" posted a hint on another thread here that ordering window for the 15's might be closing soon. It could be that Jeep just gave up on the DI, and thus doesn't have to extend the 2015 MY, and delay the start of the 2016 MY, for several months.
I would think it would be nice to simply offer tops in colors other than black or body. White would be nice (as you show), as would be saddle to match the interior (if you so inclined to do that).
You wont know until later this summer - The 2016's are delayed. From what I was told it is a financial decision related to the 2015 model year and CAFE. Extending the 2015 Wrangler production saves them money.
Regarding colors, 2015 was a pretty good year what with Baja, Sunsest and Tank. 2013 was probably the best year for unique colors and 2014 was a much more subdued year. It'll be interesting to see where 2016 lands.
What makes waiting for the 2016 colors even harder? Having your brother go out and buy a 2015 Sunset Orange JKU...c'mon Jeep you have to deliver at least one kick ass color for '16....and of course open up for ordering...so I can win the JKU slapfight....:slapfight:
I saw a thread on the 2016 Cherokee and new colors for next year...wonder if those are the colors that Jeep will appear go with on the JKU for 2016 as well, or if Jeep will avoid using those colors to be more exclusive....hmmmm?
