Window Tint?

Do you have your front windows tinted? If so, do they match the back factory tint or lighter?

I am considering the tint (I like the look and the function) - but am not sure I want to go as dark as the back windows or lighter - thoughts? Also, in Illinois, probably a good idea to stay legal at 35%....but matching would require darker.

Pics / opinions appreciated!

Match it! I just did mine....check out my thread named "2 weeks of ownership"...pics are on there. I took my glass out, tinted it, and put it back in.

Its personal preference so asking what is better is somewhat moot. Everyone Is biased. Make the choice that makes sense for you.

Window Tint?

I tinted mine on all vehicles. I used a very good shop that only does window tint. Just an FYI- my tint guy actually goes a little darker up front so they look to truly match. The reason being is that he needs to compensate for the amount of light the windshield lets in.

I'm asking for feedback from those who've done the tint...and how they've liked it to use as input into my decision.

Re: Window Tint?

I advocate tinting.

Here in TX it isnt just a cosmetic/ego thing...it serves a functional purpose. Not only does it relieve SOME of the driver fatigue from glare; but it also lowers interior temperatures NOTICEABLY.

A few years ago, TX updated its vehicle equipment statutes to allow the front door glass to be tinted as dark as the rear glass....the degree of the tint is more a cosmetic preference. Be sure to check your states requirements. Most professional tinters will be on top of that for you and wont let you screw-up....but its an easy google search to make yourself informed and not rely on what the tinters say....its not their citation if they are wrong.

Personally....I prefer the relative uniformity of having the front glass match as closely as possible.

FYI....there is also an option out there to apply an "invisible tint" to the windshield. It is invisible...it does not impede visibility in any way (thus its USUALLY legal...see above caveat), but it is designed to filter InfraRed spectrum (think: residential E-Glass). I dont know where you are but if heat is a concern...this might be worth researching. My Wife has it on her Vette and likes it.

V.

I tinted same as the back. Vehicles with multiple tint %'s look stupid. Im really not sure why you wouldnt want tint in the first place. It keeps some of the heat out and wards off curious eyeballs.

Re: Window Tint?

wrangler tint doesnt have a percentage.....it has an SPF rating.

Now that Im out of the wrangler and into a JGC....i look forward to all of my extremities having the same tan-level and I can have a somewhat less....Neapolitan...appearance.

I will miss the breeze up the cargo shorts.

But I wont miss the BEES up the cargo shorts.

Its all fun until someone gets hurt.

NOT a good kind of swelling.

I know...TMI.

Now back to window tints
