Good grief. Just exactly what "law" did Chrysler break? Car companies routinely refresh models at no set interval. Car companies regularly have "short" model years. No federal or state law, rule or regulation in these United States governs the naming, designation or duration of model years. Chrysler made no representation of which I am aware as to how long the 2013 model year would be produced or made available. Information regarding the early introduction of the 2014 model year was readily available on the internet, in car magazines and elsewhere even at the time the 2013s launched.

But this is America. Anyone can sue anyone at any time. You probably won't prevail in court, but may be able to extort a settlement from the defendants based on the cost of defending the case through trial and appeal. Doesn't make it right. Doesn't mean the "big company" did anything wrong. And, in the end, it raises the cost of doing business and the cost of the products and services we all buy.

I know; I have to make these decisions on behalf of my company every day. Makes me gag every time.

Re: '12 & '13 Owners - Class action suit against Jeep

How is this Chrysler's fault. You bought the vehicle obviously @ close to sticker to loose that kind of money. Go buy a Mercedes and see how much you loose just to drive it off the lot. There is no guarantee to what the value of your vehicle is going to be in the future. If you want that, then go to a lease. Vehicles aren't an investment. If you think so, then you better hire someone else to handle your finance's. Yeah, you're going to take a hit on about any vehicle you buy and attempt to trade it in after 8 month's. To attempt a class action law suit because YOU make a bad decision on a purchase is YOUR fault. Either sell the vehicle privately or hold onto it longer. The lower the price of the vehicle the less of a monetary loss. But, I bet it's still about the same percentage loss. Dealer's make more money off of used vehicles than they do new by a huge margin. I've never had anyone tell me what my trade was going to be worth at a point in time and never will. So geez get over it. Either take the loss or enjoy what you have. 2012-2013's are still great vehicles!!! And by the way. Those little upgrades they have done to the 2014's raised the price of those too!!!

No problem. Let me know if I pass the re-evaluation . I assume you feel that the OP has a legit case?

The problem with Class Action suits is that by the time the settlement is divided up, the lawyers and admin costs use up 99% of the proceeds. A couple months ago I was part of a Credit Card class action suit. Billions awarded. I figured out my take and it ended up to be just under $2.00. Needless to say, I wasn't going to fill out and submit pages of paperwork for a lousy two bucks.

My selling dealer didn't want to give me a trade-in price as he knew it would offend me. He still has 13's with no 14's coming in.

I went to a different dealer today. The trade-in value is in the toilet because of the early released '14 models out now. It would cost me $18,000 plus tax to get the '14 after only 7 months of ownership.

No rebates, no incentives no loyalty money. That is just like being in the toilet...pretty crappy!
Dude, can you even do basic math or a typical lawyer trying to create numbers to drive your own point? I bought mine for $58 and 8 months later traded it in for $48, that's only $10k lost in depreciation. Try to see what happens after 8 months to a Porsche, Mercedes, BMW or Range Rover - minimum $15k to $20k.

Re: '12 & '13 Owners - Class action suit against Jeep

The only change, other than colors, between the 2011 and 2012's is the six speed transmission. The 2012's weren't rushed to market. They introduced the 2011 early screwing the 2010 owners the way you feel screwed. The 2014 owners are the guinea pigs this time around just like I was with my 2011.

There are a lot of very good reason for a class action suit against Jeep
Most of against Jeep Australia No front recovery point etc bad service , No service , lies, miss information and the is almost endless,

But don't see its anyones else,s responsibility about the programming of model changes etc

Wow... Spartacus is a perfect example of why America is in the state it is. We should ask Congress to pass a law that prohibits upgraded models - each company gets one shot at a product and that's it...

Re: '12 & '13 Owners - Class action suit against Jeep

Wow........this thread has really taken a turn. This is a reflection of the world we live in, a throw away society, buy something today, out of fashion tomorrow, buy again......so on. I almost feel sorry for Spartacus, I'm sure he was not expecting such response but to blame the manufacturer is really ludicrous. Keep posts coming they are really entertaining.
