Re: '12 & '13 Owners - Class action suit against Jeep

I wonder if there really is a big loss.

The 12s and 13s were cheaper to start with. If you sell one after 2 years as 3 model years old, you will get a big bump for only having 2/3 the mileage a three year old car would have. I think you may come out ahead. Chrysler should be able to sue for any excess.

Through about 1970 most car models changed at least as significantly as the Grand Cherokee changed from '13 to '14 EVERY YEAR!

It's practically the same vehicle. Some things were actually removed from 2013 to 2014: CD player standard and in the center dash. Flipper glass. Hard drive.

Re: '12 & '13 Owners - Class action suit against Jeep

I just sold my '12 with 10.5K miles on it. I had offers all over the place and got lowballed from the dealer I bought it from (45K). Long story short, I paid 58K for it and sold it for 48K. It was 5K miles away from needing tread and on the books was two years old even though I had only owned it a year. I probably could have got another 2-3K out of it retailng it, but I had to make a move quick. Considering the circumstances I dont think the '12 resale has been ruined. These are speciality vehicles and you just dont sell them to ever Joe down the street. They WILL depreciate faster and be a tough sell and everyone that sells cars know it.

BTW, it doesnt matter. No matter what you buy, you always become old news in two to three years. I would imagine The '15 or '16 SRT will have a Blown engine package either standard or as an option.

well i thought I was upset that a few months after I bought my '13 Durango that now they come with the 8 speed tranny and paddle shifters...and 8.4 inch hi tech uconnect media center..

but I like the overall exterior looks and gauges of mine better and wouldnt trade it for a '14, and with my mods I am finally more than content with it..

A worse story, had a 2006 trailblazer SS...3 year/36K warranty...

PoS truck fell apart at 36 - 40k miles and blew the oil burning LS2 motor right after!

GM basically told me I'm beat, even tho in 08 they changed the warranty to 5yrs/100K miles!
BUT GET THIS - THEY GRANDFATHERED IN THE 2007's and gave them the new warranty even tho they at the time they bought theirs it was with the 3yr/36k warranty -

BUT THEY DID NOT GRANDFATHER IN THE 2006's?'
Yet they were all based on the same exact platform and major mechanicals..

I basically got PUNISHED for running out and being the 1st to buy one!

Yet in my nissan, they grandfathered my maxima into the 100K tranny warranty for the new CVT Tranny (even tho it runs perfect at 50K miles lol)

So think before buying a GM, and before being first to buy...but don't be upset if/ when things change quicker these days, with todays technology and competition expect that to be the new norm ( but dont accept it when you get screwed out of things like warrantys - thats different! I held back $2K I owed GM for my SS because of their shady tactics...to this day they never got it and never will...)

Re: '12 & '13 Owners - Class action suit against Jeep

This class action is just plain dumb. I placed a deposit on my 2006 SRT8 in April 2005, when it was first announced. As a result, I got the 14th ever sold in the whole wide world. My son now ownes it, and loves it. I also have one of the earliest 2012's, with the 5 speed, small NAV screen, etc, and its the best vehicle I have ever owned in my many years of driving. My point is, that if I wanted an SRT8 with all the latest, greatest features, I would still be waiting 10 years for the 2015 model.

Well, at least it makes for funny reading. I don't think Spartacus will be here very long.
