'12 & '13 Owners - Class action suit against Jeep

Hello,

I am looking into a class action suit against the Jeep/Chrysler company with the subject of how they screwed over '12 & '13 owners. I'm representing several owners already.

-They early-released the '14 model year, thereby hurting resale and trade-in values of the two previous years.

-They rushed the '12 to market without fully developing it. It should have come with all the "improvements" the '14 now has. The 8 speed transmission for starters. LED tail lights should have been included from day 1 on the design of the WK2. "Face lifts" are an acceptable mid-generation improvement. All the other items the '14 has aren't.

-There is no "loyalty money" or "incentives" for existing WK2 owners to upgrade to the '14. Jeep/Chrysler doesn't give a damn about their existing customer base.

Please PM me or email me at theyscrewedus@yahoo.com if you would be interested in being included. All responses will be held strictly confidential and not posted up on any forum. Please let me know any thoughts you have and what you personally would like to see get accomplished.

Thank you.

-Spartacus (I myself own a 3 month old '13 that is now considered "a year old")

Spartacus, let me know how the lawsuit goes. I'm in sort of a similar situation - in late February 2013 I purchased a Sony 8-Track player off of Ebay. The day it arrived I headed over to Best Buy to purchase some music titles. To my surprise, and disappointment, they did not have a single title available! I was pissed to say the least.

I am now preparing a Class action suit against all involved parties - the seller, Sony, Ebay, PayPal, U.S.P.S. as well as Best Buy. Still trying to find a lawyer to take it on, hoping to get at least $50k.

So maybe I don't understand what loyalty cash is.. I thought it was basically an incentive to stay in the same brand, and was available for every buyer regardless of year, if they were trading in a same brand car or truck or whatever...

So is there something else that they offer as loyalty cash? Like if you bought the 12 and want the 14 is there more money available for that sort of thing?

there is no loyalty money given right now...nor do I think that there will ever be....but to be honest....I would be a sweet gig to maybe give a 1k off or something if upgrading....I don't know, something would be cool but im with the guy above....not holding my breathe

When they are closing the order banks down every month because they can't build any more, why would they start giving incentives?

Maybe if the Cherokee takes too many sales from the Grand Cherokee this fall ...

Completely agree. But say you had a '10 and were upgrading to a '14. Maybe SRT loyalty would be cool. Only for returning customers. Like ourselves hahahah

I see the intent behind what he's trying to say, but I don't believe any court in this land would accept such a case but who knows these days with everybody suing and feeling entitled to something in return based upon initial poor judgment or lack of knowlege on their own part.

I could probably see how a 2013 buyer could feel but then again, it's not like infomation wasn't prevalent in the media on what was coming for the refreshed 2014 model.

I myself bought a 2012 late last year in August, but I got a really good deal at buying it around $58k or $59k. I went to trade mine in and new that my trade value would probably be pretty low given the new 2014s which are out. You can buy a used 2012 with low mileage for about $51k or $52k right now. The trade I got was around $48k and the dealer was willing to deal on the 2014, so I got it for around $64k. I paid the difference for what I owed on the 2012 to the trade in value and still kept my payments about the same on the 2014.

Bottom line - if you're going to buy cars like this and want the latest and greatest- quite whining, buck up, pay what you owe and move on!!

Now - I must admit, I do like the idea about a loyalty incentive.....

So Dguth, it cost you $16,000 to use your Jeep for 8 months? That doesn't bother you?

My selling dealer didn't want to give me a trade-in price as he knew it would offend me. He still has 13's with no 14's coming in.

I went to a different dealer today. The trade-in value is in the toilet because of the early released '14 models out now. It would cost me $18,000 plus tax to get the '14 after only 7 months of ownership.

No rebates, no incentives no loyalty money. That is just like being in the toilet...pretty crappy!

Milhous is the man on this site! The guys helps everyone out with questions they may have. No need to reevaluate anything. Milhous just like all of us were making a joke out of a joke thread. Don't single him out. Come after all of us who laughed at the guy starting this thread!

As a Canadian I see a lot of frivolous lawsuits down in the USA,and they all go through the court system, and sometimes people get compensated, like the person that sue MC Donald for serving them hot coffee that they burn them self with and won over $500,000.00
A gentleman was a lawyer suing an Asian Dry cleaner a few millions for not doing his suite the way he wanted, and so on,the court need to look at all these cases and dismiss the most frivolous.

How is this Chrysler's fault. You bought the vehicle obviously @ close to sticker to loose that kind of money. Go buy a Mercedes and see how much you loose just to drive it off the lot. There is no guarantee to what the value of your vehicle is going to be in the future. If you want that, then go to a lease. Vehicles aren't an investment. If you think so, then you better hire someone else to handle your finance's. Yeah, you're going to take a hit on about any vehicle you buy and attempt to trade it in after 8 month's. To attempt a class action law suit because YOU make a bad decision on a purchase is YOUR fault. Either sell the vehicle privately or hold onto it longer. The lower the price of the vehicle the less of a monetary loss. But, I bet it's still about the same percentage loss. Dealer's make more money off of used vehicles than they do new by a huge margin. I've never had anyone tell me what my trade was going to be worth at a point in time and never will. So geez get over it. Either take the loss or enjoy what you have. 2012-2013's are still great vehicles!!! And by the way. Those little upgrades they have done to the 2014's raised the price of those too!!!

My dad also has an s63 MB at home. Paid over 150k for it. It's a 2012 by the way. Just tried to get rid of it for a range rover. dealer wanted to give him 89k for it. Hahaha it's life get over it!

The only change, other than colors, between the 2011 and 2012's is the six speed transmission. The 2012's weren't rushed to market. They introduced the 2011 early screwing the 2010 owners the way you feel screwed. The 2014 owners are the guinea pigs this time around just like I was with my 2011.:)

#146 ·
Supposedly the owners of '14s with ZF transmissions will be left in the lurch soon, as the intent was that Chrysler make all future 8 speeds instead of buying them from ZF.

Wonder how the original Hemi owners felt when the first SRT came out and started smoking Cayennes, BMW's etc.

Whoooooooooooooh! Love this thread

There are a lot of very good reason for a class action suit against Jeep
Most of against Jeep Australia No front recovery point etc bad service , No service , lies, miss information and the is almost endless,

But don't see its anyones else,s responsibility about the programming of model changes etc

Wow... Spartacus is a perfect example of why America is in the state it is. We should ask Congress to pass a law that prohibits upgraded models - each company gets one shot at a product and that's it...

Wow........this thread has really taken a turn. This is a reflection of the world we live in, a throw away society, buy something today, out of fashion tomorrow, buy again......so on. I almost feel sorry for Spartacus, I'm sure he was not expecting such response but to blame the manufacturer is really ludicrous. Keep posts coming they are really entertaining.

This is the stupidest thing I have ever seen. From the post it seems like sparticus is typical lawyer scum. These scumbags clog up the legal system and make it hard for anyone to get anything done...they will lead to to the downfall of out country.
What grounds do you have for a lawsuit? Also, the 2014 refresh was a pretty badly kept secret; just because you were too big of a moron to figure it out doesn't give you the grounds to sue.

Well I'm upset, I bought a V8 2014 Summit and the dealer didn't tell me about some newfangled diesel model, even though I put in a highly specific factory order. I expect a free summit crt, plus a bazillion dollars for the emotional distress of me making an informed decision... How dare those Detroit/Toledo Northerners!!!

I suppose that there is an actual point here

When do dealers / salesman have an obligation to inform the customer of the upcoming model change?

It goes to the point that in Australia we were NOT informed of the change to the front chassis rails and the removal of the front recovery points
Jeep Australia cooped a caning over that and then told dealers that they had to inform customers prior to sale.

BUT in my case My sales man was not interested and had no idea of what a recovery point was and keep telling me there was a tow point

Was not until i was about to pick up the vehicle that i realized that He was a ning nong and had no idea but of course no compensation no recovery hooks provided
But he did give a quote of $585.00 fitted each side to fit the after though recovery points. It should have been provided simple fact and i should not have shelled out that sort f money for stupid Jeep Australia executive decision on reducing the chassis rails

So in a way i do see his point when is enough enough
When do we start to hold people responsible.

I feel the pain here. That's why I am waiting for the JGC MY21 as it's going to have a Flux-Capacitor Upgrade Pack. Now I'll never get bogged again or ever be late for an appointment. I'll be able to leave home later but arrive earlier to any of my appointments with my MY21 JGC time machine - 4X4.

You may mock me now but you just wait and see who'll be mad or kicking themselves for not waiting for the MY21!!

Besides, it'll serve you right for not paying closer attention to jeepgarage.com before you bought your Jeep! Sigh...

Going forward:

-After 5 individual emails from non-SRT owners, it seems wise to include all models of the Grand Cherokee. Lots of owner distaste to what Jeep/Chrysler management has done.

-Due to ALL responses coming via email, that shall be the only form of contact for the future (to be clear, no PM).

-Lastly, Thank You to all those so far who have given me their insight, shared their ideas, shared their dealer (negative) experiences, and offered their support.

Those in this situation outweigh those cynical who post.

So Spartacus, am I assuming you are the "lawyer" that will be representing these fine folk in their attempt to sue for compensation between normal residual value and lost residual value? If so, then the loss or difference has to be proved... do you have evidence of the lost residual?

Also, in order to make a class action suit against Chrysler, and to make it for even a small number in the millions, it would need to be in federal court. With your time and court costs and research costs, all to go several thousand hours in round after round of getting kicked in the nuts by the army of suits that chrysler has, and all they are doing is stalling you...you will have nothing but a big debt all by yourself since you lost and nobody else has to pay a thing if you lose.

Are you actually willing to tell people that either you are the lawyer for this, or that you have a lawyer willing to take on a class action suit against Chrysler for a couple million in possible damages... and thats if you can get several thousand people to join it.

So, forget about the asinine idea of a class action, you won't have the funds or the defendants to do it.. this was simply a troll thread, albeit a fun one.

So at the end of the day, if your intention was to amuse us, mission complete. Awesome job.

I wonder if Spartacus is suing his auto insurance (for lowering or increasing his policy), all food brands that he uses(for changing ingredients for the better), all fast food places he eats at(for changing the menu to keep people coming in)...etc since everything needs to be updated regardless.

You're going so sue a company because they decided, for the betterment of the company, they need to upgrade their product. FYI - your car depreciates 10-20% the minute you leave the dealer lot - KNOWN FACT.

The MY13s were KNOWN TO BE A SHORT MODEL YEAR before it was even released. Any well informed consumer (which I take it you're not) would have found that in their research.

So, anyone else here wants to file a counter-suit on Spartacus for Libel? It's only fair since he's breaking the law (which law I don't know but I'll come up with something come arraignment...frivolous litigation)

RANT: People like Spartacus it what makes the legal system in the USA good and bad. Why good? It lets anyone sue for no solid reason.
Why bad? It lets anyone sue for no solid reason.
END RANT (Sorry, I can't stand crap like this lol)
