Re: '14 SRT, Front Suspension Collapsed?

I have to laugh at all the Eibach bashing...I have used their components for years on various vehicles, have no hesitation about continuing to use their products and can't wait to get the new kit installed (currently in transit). No one still knows the full story and IMHO, Eibach is unfairly getting the blame. I personally can't see two coils failing in exactly the same time and manner without some sort of outside intervention. Not blaming the OP either as there is more history of these coils that transpired before the OP took ownership.

Re: '14 SRT, Front Suspension Collapsed?

Those coils obviously failed...there was no cutting or mishaps. Sometimes it happens....just the way manmade products are. They are like man...and not perfect.

So I guess it's fair to say that this could happen to any spring , OEM, bwoody, road Magnet, or eibach. We can also stay away from making comments like:

I think this is what bmrisko is trying to say.

Re: '14 SRT, Front Suspension Collapsed?

I won't...thats just fact. Sorry if your offended by my opinion. Everyone says the eibachs are sportier? Such bullshit....they arent stiffer...they just suck. Thats the facts...i owned them...twice...on 2 SRTs! Theyre bouncy and no drop...plus add to the fact the powdercoat failed and they rusted......one acter 6000 miles in a mild climate. Thats inferior metal....thats just the truth. Wire doesnt fail like that unless its been compromised by conditions and time or inferior metal. They rushed them to market to be the first. Fact.

Re: '14 SRT, Front Suspension Collapsed?

No no never offended by opinions. Remember I have run both springs as well. Just not supporting your dramatic opinion.

Maybe this new kit is a true improvement, at least I hope.

Please also remember that your opinion does not equal facts. Your opinions do however allow people to come to their own conclusions which is great! This is what makes your forum so awesome. Just want everyone to be open minded.

Again, not angry or upset just my thoughts.

Actually, that would be due to inferior powder coating or poor surface prep, not the metal. Any metal will rust when exposed to the environment (rain, humidity, etc), even some stainless recipes.

However, I'm just a mechanical design engineer with years of experience in a foundry and metallurgy lab...so I probably have no idea what I'm talking about.

MexicanBatman is on a distinguished road
Re: '14 SRT, Front Suspension Collapsed?

The eibach are poo

The Bwoody are poo

I run an Australian made spring it's a mild drop and retains a nice ride and good handling

The company hasn't re invented the wheel like Bwoody have tried to do and failed in doing so

The spring is very similar to stock there is a 30-40mm drop

The car also hold a good load and handles really well

Here's a pic, they use a variable taper wire for a progressive rate and are basically the same as stock but lower
Perfect

Same can't be said for the Bwoody which were far too low 3" not 1.8" as advertised and when tested they came out softer than the standard front spring rate, LOL

What company and p/n? Are they easily acquired in the US?

That last statement shouldve been seperate. I meant the metal used to make the springs was inferior. The powder was also inferior. I've worked in the aluminum field for 14 years with novelis and run a casting pit that cast 750 million pounds of aluminum ingot last year. The wire used to make those springs was brittle and obviously out of spec. Not even gonna speculate why because i do not have it in my hand.

Yeah I wouldn't touch the bwoody springs. Good info here, do you have any test on the stiffness between stock and the eibachs. What's your OPINIONS on why the eibachs are "poo".
