'14 SRT towing, daily driver, comfort questions

Hey all. I've been waiting not so patiently for CRDs to enter the order banks: delay after delay.

In the mean time I've become more and more attracted to the SRT. My questions are around the idea of what the vehicle does when its not launching 0-60 in a straight line at insane speeds.

Is it a comfortable daily driver? IE punishing on normal roads with bumps and holes? Is it unreasonable to tow with it? I take some road trips with a 3 to 4 thousand pound trailer loaded. Anything else i'm not thinking of regarding an SRT for a daily vehicle + sometimes towing?

Thanks!

Re: '14 SRT towing, daily driver, comfort questions

hey man I use my '14 as a daily driver and although I haven't had it long I love it so far....beyond comfortable. I will be putting around 12k miles on it a year if not more and im excited for every one of those miles.

bumps and potholes it handles them very well, doesn't throw you at all....no as for towing with it, I don't know anything about nor will I ever because I wont tow with it but I hear its a beast towing.

hope this helps

Thanks for the reply! I can only imagine how bad the gas mileage is towing. But honestly, my V8 Touareg is so bad, it can't be much worse.

Re: '14 SRT towing, daily driver, comfort questions

I have had my 14 SRT for over a week now and it is amazing for everyday driving. I had a 2011 GC Overland Summit and I like the way this city drives more. This car is hands down AMAZING!

To be quite honest with you gas mileage isn't bad right now. I'm getting 15.5 mpg! Now towing haha that's a different story but if you can afford the car and the toys you can afford the gas to put in them

Re: '14 SRT towing, daily driver, comfort questions

Overall ride comfort is great in Auto. It is stiffer than the other trims, but I like that and it is a 'sporty' suspension. If you turn it to track it definitely is stiff and you will feel everything.

MPGs, mine have been going up. 12, 13, 13.7 have been my first 3 tanks. With ECO mode on, my readout is over 20 for most of my cruising speeds. I haven't used that until this tank, really curious what it will equate to. Interesting note though, on the freeway at 75mph the EVIC says 17 in normal mode, switch to ECO and let MDS kick in and it jumps to 21. Not bad at all...

I've been driving in ECO mode a lot lately and I have notice a huge increase in MPG...its a really cool feature.... I've gotten to as high as 37mpg at 65mph!!!! didn't stay there for that long after I hit the gas but still hahah

Re: '14 SRT towing, daily driver, comfort questions

Yea - it makes me wish there was an option to make it default to that. I know the 2012 and 13 guys hated the MDS and wanted it off. At least we have a choice.

I just need to get into the habit of enabling it.

...and it is quite amusing to cost and watch the EVIC show 99mpg. HA!

Haha exactly I hate how I have to get in the car and hit it everytime. I'm still waiting to be able to see 100 show up. Hahah or is that greedy?

Re: '14 SRT towing, daily driver, comfort questions

I have Pirelli PZeros (the 3-season tire option).
