'17 transmission clunk

Guys, not sure if that recently posted flash covers this...Over the past two weeks, been noticing a clunk, or a surge just as the vehicle is coming to a stop. It sometimes feels like the car is being tapped from behind..or it is late to downshift..Anyone else have this issue?

Re: '17 transmission clunk

Is it shifting from 3-2? Do you notice it when you take off, gear 1-2?

Re: '17 transmission clunk

Haven't had one doing that, but I would have the dealer do the new update and make sure they also do the transmission quick learn after the update

Hi tyresmoker,

There is a TSB that may be related to the concern you are experiencing:

"NUMBER: 21-002-17
GROUP: Transmission and Transfer Case
DATE: January 10, 2017

SUBJECT:
Flash: Transmission Diagnostic And Shift Enhancements

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Some customers may experience a Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illumination. Upon further investigation, a technician may find the following Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) stored in the TCM memory:
P1DCD-00 - TCM Monitoring Processor Performance Multiple Clutches Locked Up.

In addition, customers may also experience the following condition:
Bumps on 2-1 and 6-5 down-shift while braking."

Your local dealership will be able to identify if this TSB applies to your vehicle and offer further assistance. Please let me know if you have any additional questions!

Re: '17 transmission clunk

I'm currently having issues with downshifts also. I'm taken my 2015 jeep grand cherokee to the dealer 4x since my purchase and had the relearn done twice. Also the latest TSB performed according to my vin with very little improvement. It's a great vehicle but the transmission/software makes it a bad decision. Will be calling Chrysler soon to see if something can be done.

Sorry for the rant

Re: '17 transmission clunk

I have 14 GC SRT and I usually don't get the clunk on 'Auto'. If I put it in Sport or Track, yep, get it usually from 3-2 or 2-1. Seems to be normal, as I read about this all the time and it's been going on for a while, and when I mean a while, I mean since 2012 people been complaining about it.

I have the harsh clunk on my 17 SRT also and had the TSB done... The TSB helps make it less harsh but the bump feeling is still there from 6-5 and 2-1.

Hi MopargarageLA,

Unfortunately this TSB only applies to vehicles built on or before November 29, 2016. Are you currently experiencing concerns with your transmission?

Thanks for the prompt response Andrea. Fortunately that's good news since mine was built in the first week of Jan 2017. I haven't experienced anything abnormal but I like to be current with all the necessary updates. Thanks again. Cheers !!!
