Apparently Carbon Fiber trim adds 5k to the price. Who knew?

The numbers you see on the chart I posted are 100% confirmed final official introductory pricing for the 2012 Laredo, Limited and Overland. These exact figures are now in the order system and in the dealer order guides. SRT pricing is not yet in the system, but it seems unlikely that it would change from the graphic which was printed late Friday afternoon.

"New Laredo price and content provides a new entry position for Grand Cherokee starting at $26,995 (4x2) and $28,995 (4x4)"

"Carry over Laredo E content is now available with "Laredo E Group (AAE)" option package for $2,000 thus lowering Laredo E price points to $28,995 (4x2) and $30,995 (4x4)"

Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - MSRP Pricing

The below is taken from the official press release of the 2006 WK SRT8.

"It's the latest example of the SRT credo of offering benchmark performance at the lowest price."

If the price of $54,470 is true, I think we are owed some sort of explanation of the $10,365 increase.

For the options I want, this puts the price at $60,005. I am sorry, I am a brand loyalist and have always had Jeeps, but at $60K, just can't bring myself to do it.

For $54,544, I could have this fully loaded. I love the wheels and this thing just looks fast!

Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - MSRP Pricing

I'm torn.... A 2012 Overland Summit, equiped with the options I would want, would be 50K (MSRP). The SRT 8 would be 60K+. Is the SRT 8 worth an extra 10K+????

It could be... I need to see an SRT 8 in person, badly!!

If this price is correct.....Big emphasis on exclusivity!

Just do a couple more full mouth xrays and you're all set. :P

Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - MSRP Pricing

Oh well...I have never understood why Chrysler makes some of the decisions that it does.

You would think that, given their recent bankruptcy, they would want to sell as many vehicles as they could to boost their capital for use down the road...and the best way to do that would be to keep ALL their products affordable, so that they get buyers from ALL markets & demographics...since with our current economy, there may be a lot of potential buyers, who are probably looking more downmarket than upmarket right now, just to keep some money in their pockets until the economy improves (especially with Gas Prices on the rise again).

Common-sense would tell any marketing guru, that you will sell more product (especially a big purchase item like a new vehicle, that will be financed & have monthly payments) at a price difference of $10k lower, than you would at $10k higher...simply because of the difference in impact it would have on the monthly payment (which is a recurring budgetary item for most people & a $150+ increase or reduction per month in their budget can be a real DEAL KILLER, especially if they need those funds for other things)...this is a general consensus of thought that doesn't just apply to the Jeep, but other brands & manufacturers as well...for a goal of high revenue, it's Marketing 101.

I think that a "fully-loaded" MSRP price of $52k-$54k is fair & reasonable for what you will currently get as an Ownership Experience from Jeep/Chrysler with buying this new SRT8 edition of the WK2...and it would not only, effectively put it in the $50k-$60 upmarket segment for the first time as an attractive alternative for the typical "upscale buyer" (so they don't feel like they'd lose their @$$ on the depreciation), but it would also keep it just affordable enough to attract the "Average Joe Enthusiasts" (which are SRT's roots, that Chrysler needs to be thankful of & keep loyal)...to where they would sell a fairly large enough amount of SRT8's, that they would make plenty of money...yet still keep some exclusivity to the vehicle (due to the fact that most buyers, will still opt for the Overland/Overland Summit instead...because they simply can't fathom a $50k Jeep, or don't want to tell anyone in their social circles they actually paid $50k for their Jeep...lol).

To put this in the $60k+ market segment, at this point in time, is marketing suicide...it will never compete in that segment (not for at least another 4yrs anyway)...Buyers will jump to the BMW's, M-B's, and Porsche's in a heartbeat...it won't matter that they don't have as much HP, etc...those buyers are buying into the long-standing reputations of those brands, not the vehicles themselves...it's a different mentality in that market and the word "Jeep" will never even come to mind when they consider what to purchase.

Anyways...just my .02

In any case...I hope they don't make such a "bone-headed" decision like that & keep pricing where it should be ($40k's starting)...or at the very least makeup for it with a low enough invoice price, that it doesn't matter to those of us smart enough to buy "at or below" invoice (which should be mid-high $40k's "loaded").

I guess we'll see soon enough...enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone!!!
