I literally thought about buying an X5M, but #1 you cant find one to test drive so either you have to order one and hope you like it, or fly to LA to find one. #2 its $110K loaded nicely, #3 just didn't appeal to me as much as the Jeep.
I wasn't comparing the X3 to the SRT8. Just comparing how BMW has added all this functionality, suspension, horsepower and fuel economy (like Wk -> WK2) yet, somehow, BMW made it lighter, added more options for the base model and still dropped the price.
Jeep did just drop the price on the other WK2 models from 2011 to 2012, so how do you justify a $13K increase from Loaded MSRP of a 2010 SRT8 to the Loaded 2012 SRT8.

Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - MSRP Pricing

I am still VERY confident that the MSRP will come in well below 50K base.

Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - MSRP Pricing

To me, as much as I love the performance aspect of the SRT8 it is still a Jeep and warranty work is still done by a Dodge/Jeep dealer. You want to charge 60K for a Jeep you have some significant Dealership upgrades that need to occur. Maybe we will see some type of special service agreement for the SRT's if so I will eat my words. 'till then no way is it worth it.

Absolutely agree.... Seems like any time I had issues/questions about my 09 SRT, the guys in the dealership were always kinda clueless...

the BMW or Merc SUV's dotn appeal to me AT ALL...plus they are about double the price. The only other SUV I would consider besides the SRT8 is the TT Cayenne...and we all know what they cost.

Jeep is NOT a luxury carmaker! I would never expect them to give me loaners, make me a waffle or omelet and wash my Jeep while its there for an oil change. I have gotten all those while at my Lexus dealer....becasue I paid a premium price for a premium vehicle. The premium SUV's are the Merc, Porsche, BMW, LR, Lexus etc etc. You pay a premium price for ALL OF THAT......oil changes are $125.....not $21.95. Jeep has had to improve the quality of their products to compete...but they are still half the price of the above. BUT...I have ALWAYS received EXCELLENt service from my local Jeep dealer. They have a nice showroom, coffee, drinks and donuts in the morning. If you have a Jeep dealer that doesnt meet your expectations...find another one. All of the above is fine by me...cause I paid a non-premium price for my SUV.

Exactly......I only paid $190k for my HOME! I do live in podunk, KY...but really...is an auto worth $130K?

60K+ is a luxury price number and I disagree with you

Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - MSRP Pricing

FWIW an oil change at a dealership for an SRT is usually closer to $75. That said, I do agree with your assessment Scott. It is quite a value compared to other REALISTIC competition. BUT, I still am not hung up on the Jeep and therefore may still consider any vehicle, including RWD sports coupes.. The good coupes are all in the same price range and I'm told I get a LOT more intangibles than Jeep will provide me. That is easily a $10K difference over the ~5 years owning the vehicle.

I too am hopeful the base MSRP comes in WELL below $55K for US models. Anything else just doesn't make sense and is too obviously "gouge pricing".
