What was it when it was only $49K fully loaded in 2010? And they only produced 1100 in 2010 and 964 units in 2009. (Per wkjeeps.com)

Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - MSRP Pricing

Cancelled my order this morning - after 7 Jeeps. This is the end of the road. Thanks for the loyalty Chrysler.

Hitting the Audi dealership to pick out a new S4.

We were getting too good of a deal then....as I've said before, an SRT8 should not cost less than an Overland.

The bottom line is that those that feel there is value in a $55k Jeep will buy it and still be happy. It does now limit who buys this SRT8 and makes it more exclusive and applealing to a different clientele.

I just ordered one pretty well loaded up for just over 51000. Take one for a test drive....miles of smiles.

I'm out, cancelling my order today. Now, what do I dump my down payment into? Turbo or 426?

Great. So the fact that they discounted it down to $41K makes even more sense.

It's great that there are "some" who will find the value in a 60K Jeep. I am not so much arguing this point as I am arguing that the entire line up of vehicles has either gained power and efficiencey, quality or amenities and Chysler has DROPPED the price from the previous year or kept it the same.
The other issue is the fact that ALL other Canadian models are priced 10% or more in Canada vs the US. Except this ONE model.
If all the pricing changes were linear then you could say it was cost to build, or just general price increases, but when you are lowering prices or adding more, but keeping prices the same, it doesn't make sense that you inflate this one US model.

I wouldn't buy it now at that price, just wait until they don't sell and they drop the price.....then those that bought it at $55k will be kicking themselves.

Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 - MSRP Pricing

Damn sucks it was true but ehh all good. Maybe 2013 MSRP will come back to Earth after crappy 2012 sales. Orrrr a lightly used loaded 2013+ model will still be right around $50k

Like I said those who want it bad enough will find a reasonable way like anything in life. But I still think they'll sell a good deal even at this ludicrous price, so chances are the price will remain inflated and a new crowd will be on these forums :/

True....like everyone, I'm just trying to understand why Chrysler has done this and so far it doesn't make sense (other than greed).

They will sell everyone they make without dropping the price. Anyone looking for a high performance SUV has few choices and this one is the least expensive by far.
